A movie solely about actresses, called Actresses and set in a single closed location?

How could I not bite that bait?!

At first I admit that it was a hard pill to swallow and I expected absolutely nothing from it so I watched it only now when I didn’t have anything at all to do.

Surprisingly, a movie that is kinda a documentary about a day a few of the most famous actresses in the industry (in Korea, in case I need to specify that) getting together for a magazine shoot (Vogue), would seem kind of boring but I sat through the whole thing and I found it…entertaining!

As if to reward me, there is this scene that made me go all krazy inside. It was between Ok-bin and Min-hee. Of course I remember the two from a few of their old movies I’ve see, like Ok-bin, I most certainly remember her most from Whispering Corridors 4 – Voice, and the horror/fantasy Thirst where she dominated the vampire females I have seen so far as the best Vampiress there was!

Min-hee I remember her in ‘I like it Hot’ or ‘Hellcats’ which most of you remember best as the movie in which Wondergirl’s So-hee lost her first kiss to another girl!! I still re-watch that movie because it’s such a gem to be treasured.

Any way yeah, the actresses play themselves in this movie as it is meant to be ‘real’ but if it indeed was real, then that scene is that much hotter when you think that Ok-bin might have actually been seriously hitting on Min-hee.

This is the scene…

The Flying Swords of Dragon’s Gate [C-Movie]

  • Save damsel in distress
  • Keep damsel in distress

First, to burst your bubbles (I apologise…not!)

Seeing these caps, you are probably taking my title for this post quite…okay, not quite but very wrong! Why?

Well, while these caps(and many more after the jump) are quite the feast for the eye and soul, the pain they induce is twice as much!

These, dear Readers, are two title that I had the un-fortunate suffering of watching in one go and they all stomped over me pretty good. To put simply, they are in the ‘disappointment category ABOVE, the category I put Painted Skin 2 in. That is to say, they are worse!

Let’s begin with Sunny!

Painted Skin II Resurrection

China!

Obviously, they have no equal!

Seriously, this movie was GAY GAY GAY even without being gay! If you can believe that! Actually, by now you should because this isn’t the first time, nor the second, that China has released a movie that should be gay but they choose to frikkin stick behind their great walls!

Like, WTF!

Seriously, this movie’s problem could have been solved with one simple solution…The Fox Demon (Xun) and the Princess (Vicki) just had to stay together , just being together, would have solved everything!

But Nooooooooooooooooooo

They just continuously teased us to death throughout the whole thing. I kid you not that half of this movie’s frames could pass the yuri board inspection!

I swear it!

But I warn you to not go mentioning that this is a yuri movie at convetions because you might be stoned to death! May be in a few years when the word ‘yuri’ is no longer associated with lesbian sex you can but not right now…Well, you can tell me because I am already at that time in the future (What, you know not of time travel…pfft)

A Chinese Tall Story [C-Movie]

What a twist!

acts-02 acts-01
Charlene Choi Fan Bing Bing

Can you believe a minute or two scene in a two hour long movie could make up for all the crap that was the rest of the movie? Well, this scene did that for me!

The movie is all kinds of all over the place so I won’t even try to explain it but I will talk about the girls since it is necessary.

Fan is some kind of galactic Princess who is hibernating/sleeping/hiding out on earth in some kind of cocoon that she never comes out of until shit hits the fan (so to speak).

Choi finds her cocoon and she takes it upon herself to guard it like it was her life’s treasure and the two probably spend many years in their own little world until that damned priest pops up, with chaos in his wake too.

Any way, Princess Fan is so beautiful that the darkness is even scared of her while Choi ion the other hand, is as beautiful as Predator’s un-masked face…to Arnold!

Later on, the priest and Fan have a conversation where he asks her if she has ever been in love. She says she has and the bottom line is that it was love at first sight! We of course first think she is talking about the priest since he too stumbled upon her cocoon and sneaked a look inside the way the Fan describes those eyes she fell in love with, who would ever think it was the Predator!

So I frown and frown for the rest of the movie until all the chaos is settled (with the help of Choi who is actually a real beauty on par with Fan and in fact they are from the same world it was just that some kind of curse had been put on Choi when she was left on earth as a child) and it’s time to head on home…for the Princess.

So I guess the Princess did see the real beauty of Choi from the beginning while the others, and us, saw the beauty of Predator.

Any way, the Princess and Choi are saying goodbye and when Choi offers a hand (for s shake) the Princess takes her into a heartfelt hug instead. Choi is le surprise of course and though I know not how but she understands the Princess’s feelings and we are shown that the one she was talking about, that first fated encounter that resulted in love at first sight, was actually Choi!

Queue le gasp!

So that was what she was talking about? Indeed, it a true Beauty and the Best love story. Too bad though that their love was realised to late after the priest had his paws all over Choi’s heart!

Arg!

Damn it China, why no best ends with you? You have all the coolest characters and then you tease us with the yuri but then you take it all away in one go!

Oh well, it’s because of that, that I shall never get tired of yuri. There is so little of it that there is no chance of growing tired of it from the over-whelming quantity of it.

Sigh

Any way, about the movie, I don’t recommend it as a yuri movie so watch in at your own risk. I too went in for the action and Fantasy and I wasn’t let down in that department though the over-laying romantic crap of it was kind of a pain in the butt!

But if you’re willing to suffer for a little bit of happiness, then go ahead…

Still, though it was not a happy end, I am wondering what would have happened had the Princess stayed after her confession (well kinda). Choi seemed a little disappoint when Fan left. Hmm…Perhaps later on things might have changed, especially maybe when the Princess returns to check up on Choi only for their feelings to surface, queue scandal, then finally getting together after all the angsty.

Arg, where is Kirika when you need her….

Ichikawa Mikako as Kirishima Kayako Konishi Manami as Endo Masami

About the actresses, you might remember Mikako as Nacchan in Cutie Honey The Movie and I don’t know what’s about them that is so attractive, but I totally lust over Manami’s eyes! What is it about them? They are so…so…Arg! I don’t even know about I can’t seem to stop staring into them. I don’t remember how many times I had to pause the movie whenever Endo was on-screen just so I could stare into those eyes forever. Just thinking about how they would look during a night of, you know, I just….I CAN’T  >.<

Any ways, blue is one of those ‘silent’ movies I love so much from Japan that beg for your complete concentration so much that before you even know it, a two hour long movie is over before you even know it.

I mean, how do they do it? I don’t think I would seat through a western silent movie. Oh the boredom!!!! Yet Japan pulls it off so well that I always find myself re-watching these silent movies from time to time.

Blue is one of the must watch Japanese yuri movies and while I suffered for Lord knows how long, watching this movie from time to time without subs, just last week, there I was, tumblring on youtube as per usual, then BAM! The whole movie with English subs, right there!!!

So really, with the ease of watching this movie, I don’t think I need an essay of summary. SO here is a short copypasta of the plot and then jump to watch it on YT.

Quiet and introspective Kayako routinely has lunch on a rooftop with three of her friends that attend an all girls high school with her in a seaside town. One day she invites Masami Endo to join the group. As her friendship with Masami grows, she loses contact more and more with the others. She is impressed with Endo’s greater knowledge of music and art, and although Endo proclaims that she is insignificant with no aim in life, Kayako says that she wishes that she could be like her new friend. Their feelings deepen beyond friendship and she proclaims her love for Endo on a lonely beach. The two become physically intimate but when summer comes Masami disappears and Kayako learns that she has gone to Tokyo to meet a married man with whom she had an affair the year before. An abortion had led to her being suspended from school. Feeling betrayed when Masami returns and lies about where she has been…

Sounds delish, no?
