P [Thai-Movie]

P is a 2005 Thai movie, that with some embarrassment, I just watched last week! Seriously, all these years and I am only seeing it now? For shame BG, for shame! Though it might be because od the bluray release that  got to see it so I am okay with that, if the wait meant for higher quality.

And of course, to those who are pre-Yes or No, would agree with me when I say that usually one thinks of horror when they hear the words ‘Thai’ ‘Movie’! I know I do and that is right in this case because P is a horror (kinda mind bending)  movie, which would make sense seeing as P/Pi/Pii/Pee or whatever is is means ‘Ghost’ in English.

Though why this movie is called ghost is beyond me because it was more of a devil thingy than a ghost thingy. Well, I guess the ‘ghost’ part referred to the happenings of the night when Dau splits in two and the devil half goes off to feed (On humans!) but I still don’t see the ghost part of it seeing as that split personality actually had a physical body!

Hmmm

Uchiyama Rina as Kako Mizukawa Asami as Miho Horikita Maki as young Kako

A little tid-bit about the cast in this lovely movie first,

Interesting with Maki as the centre, these three have appeared in other subtext projects other than this one. Asami was cast along Maki in the Locker movie series (Shibuya Kaidan) where she played as a college student that was tutoring junior High scholar Maki. Their relationship was kind of interesting…with goggles at max it was plain as day. As for Rina, she was in that nice drama that is one of my favourite JDramas – Seito Shokun, where she plays a new homeroom teacher to a very troubled class (sounds familiar?). The class was run in the shadows by non other than the quite girl Maki who later goes all commando on us and gives us some nice moments between her and Rina. Now, I am not saying you go out and watch this because they aren’t 100% yuri (but really, only 1 in 1000 is ) but if you place your goggles to over 9000, what are you still doing here?

So yeah, there is that history between these ladies and while Maki only appears at the start and in flashbacks, she did a very good job of setting the gripping atmosphere of this movie! I swear this movie really grates the nerves. If I were asked to explain what the Thriller genre is…This would be it! There i little violence but moods…The moods!!!! I can’t count how many times I swallowed nervously when watching this…seriously. There is that scene where Kako and Miho are alone and Miho finally lets lose the true meaning of her words when she had said she wished she was able to kill back then. It turns out she wanted to be the one to kill Kako’s family for what they did to her father (I will explain later don’t worry). The air I swear could be cut with a finger!

By the way, I don’t know if anyone still remembers, but I blogged about this movie on my first attempt at it on Live Spaces but that blog went burst. So here we are again.

Dear Friends [J-Movie]

ディアフレンズ Dear Friends

Have you ever watched a movie that no matter what age a person maybe you just know it will make them cry their eyes dry like a baby through it,and after it?!

Have you ever seen a movie that made you wish you met a person like that in this world?

Has a movie ever made you go…”To hell with romance! I will take friendship any day!”?

Have you ever loved a movie so much, watched it many times despite the pain it brings every time you watch it?

Was there a movie that actually touched your life and changed it?!

Is there a movie you want everyone to watch once in their one life!

Dear friends, For me, ‘Dear Friends’ is that movie!

Kitagawa Keiko as Rina Motokariya Yuika as Maki

BUT

Dear Friends is not for the weak of heart ( and those who lack faith in the yuri) because this is one sad sad movie!

Wait, wait, before you go I have to let you know that if I could narrow down all the yuri movies I’ve seen to date (and there’s a lot! believe you me) ‘Dear Friends’ would be in the top 5!

I love this movie so very much….despite the pain and tears that always follows!

Yes or No 2 – A New Challenger Appears!

That’s right!

Thai yuri movie Yes or No is getting a sequel!

With a new girl appearing in the lives of the two lovers, this can’t be any better. I can already taste the fan-girling all the way to Thailand! Nothing beats rivalry when it comes to romance!

Truthfully, with the popularity of this movie and the love it’s still getting, I am surprised it’s taken them this long to bring out a sequel. I can count how many times I’ve been asked about this movie on both hand fingers!

Any way, I liked the first movie and might be discussing it since I failed to see what was so special about it that it would grab all this attention.

Maybe I missed something….Hm

Any ways,
