A true Knight in shining armour
In fact, I am downright pissed off at Rider!
Yes, I am very well aware of how popular and Bro-some he is (apparently) but this was just damn right disrespectful and nerve wracking (In a pissed off way). How dare he dismiss King Arturia’s rule and going as far as to say that he doesn’t recognise her as King anymore?!! Who the hell does he think he is, God?!! So what if Saber’s way is naïve and not befit of his vision of what a King should be! Who the hell does he think he is, the First King? Oh wait, that’s Gil-sama. Does he make the King rules? Like, hell no! So what frikkin right does he have going and spreading his frikking ‘right way’ to rule?! Like WTF?!! I mean even though Gil-sama did snicker at Arturia’s views, you didn’t see him going and sharking her off like a simple mongrel!
Like WTF?!!
And everyone is all ‘Yay, Saber got told’ and ‘Yay all hail Iskadabbra or something’ and so on….Like what?!! It’s because simple and so called naïve ideals get easily discarded with claims of them not working from the start that the world is going no fukkin where! Seriously!
Okay, enough raeging…
He’s the def of ‘Fabulous!’
So anyways this episode was all about the Kings getting together and exchanging their take on the war and their ideals over drinks. Gil-sama didn’t talk a lot but for some reason even with Rider showing off; Gil-sama still attained his seat as the Fabulous of the most fabulous in his golden armour. He also respected Saber’s ideals (At least I think he did) which kept him at his seat at the most badass servant in my book. Like also how he only raised an eyebrow at Rider’s Reality Marble – probably wondering if he should add it to his collection.
Despair!
Read it in a comment somewhere but this truly was a Saber-bullying episode. Not only were the beliefs on which her whole life was built upon be-littled and even her status as King pissed upon, but she was also reminded of those days. Those dark days when her army lay in mounds of dead bodies and that traitor that left the Round Table because King Arturia didn’t understand her people’s feelings and so on. And to make matters even worse, the art just suddenly took the deep end with Saber and Iri looking all the more like whipped kittens and helpless little girls. Actually that is exactly what the people’s Bro-King called her – Little girl!
Here is my finger Iskadabbra
Here is my Bro-Fist Gil-sama
But despite all the beating that her heart took, Saber still remained the true Knight that she is at the core by putting Iri before anything else, even her pain.
So all the Iskadabbra lovers may say all they want but I was so not impressed by his words. He is capable and I will admit his RM looked awesome but he just lost more points than gain this episode.
Saber gained more than expected (since when was I giving away points anyways?) because she impressed me by holding onto those ideals that every other King and man shy away from not because of their silliness but because the conviction and pain that comes along with them is unfathomable and no one can stand them but Saber still believes which is why Gil-sama was so taken by her. And though he may be smug, he is the First King of Heroes and his experience unrivalled. Also there is a reason the sword of Excalibur chose Arturia’s ‘simple and naïve’ ideals.
I really don’t know what happened to Gil-sama in F/SN but this Gil-sama is so out there. There has to be a reason as to why he seems to survive almost every war. I guess even the writers’ love him that much. Too bad not enough as to tell us more of his true past! I guess it is so awesome and so far away that it’s beyond even their imagination.
Any ways, this episode kept me on my feet and my heart pounding. I guess having three Kings together at the same time and same place this feeling of un-settlement is inevitable. I swear I kept thinking that someone is gonna pull out a sword and unmentionables be hitting the fan but didn’t, well, until the Assassins showed up.
I still love you Saber.
Still ship Iri/Saber like the masochist I am too.

I felt really sorry for Saber this episode but I think the reason it affected her this way was because she realized Rider had a point. Sure he was a greedy, selfish man, but in the end, his people loved him enough to pledge their service to him even after their deaths. Personally, I think the only difference they have is their vastly different styles of kingship: Saber believes one should protect and serve the people; Rider believes you should connect with them. Both of them also believe that the other is being incredibly selfish: Rider’s selfish because he had those who follow his lead serve his desires; while Saber stood as a lone though noble figure and shouldered all the pain on herself; though she attracted capable men to her service by her example-in the end she never once considered them, she placed her duty to protect her country over her men. Saber became a tool; not a king.

Hey Giovanni, thanks for dropping in and commenting.
I can understand the reasoning but I just can’t forgive Rider for simply dissing Saber’s views like that and going so far as to say he doesn’t recognise her as King!
That was downright demoralising and disrespectful.
