First of all I have to apologise in case I misled some new fans of what happened in Tokyo Girls’ Style’s ‘Love Like candy Floss’ PV, in my fan fic. If you might remember, that is if you read it, I had mentioned Hitomi being in a relationship with some guy named Takayuki (In the PV story of course).
I was wrong! Oh was I so very wrong!
Please forgive me if you read the fic and came to that same conclusion of the PV story because of it. I would also like to apologise to Avex for even thinking that they would go with that route. I am sorry I doubted you even for a second.
But the good thing is that in my fic I was right (well maybe half right) about something else. What is that you ask? Well….Not to tease those who don’t want to jump the cut that much I will tell you this much…
There was no Guy!
That dude you might have seen (If it wasn’t only me) that walked all kind of cool and stuff was just some random dude on the street! He had absolutely nothing to do with the PV. So what does this exactly mean?!
By All That is Holy, what this means is that….
=
Takayuki
You got that right! Miyu was Takayuki! She was the one sending all those love mails to Hitomi as Takayuki! Like…
OMG!!!
How awesome is that?! I can assure you and I will swear on Saber’s honour if I have to, that I did not make this up at all. It was all revealed by the girls themselves as they watched the PV for the first time. This was in Vol.2 of ‘Yamabe Miyu’s Tokyo Girls’ Style’ or 山邊未夢の東京女子会 in Japanese or ‘Yamabe Miyu no Toukyou Joshiryuu’. When the girls were asked to comment on it, Aachan was like – “I was surprised when the other three (Meaning herself, Yuri and Mei) kept popping up in Miyu and Hitomi’s scenes”. In other words, she wants us to ignore them. LOL. I just love her.
I fall in love with someone
I get a strange feeling
I really don’t know
what I should do
If I make sure of it,
it will disappear
Candy floss, just like that sweet fleeting dream
of cotton candySince when have I
noticed you and became conscious of you?
You just call me
and I suddenly had courageWe’re not friends
I feel a special something
Is there something wrong?
Just don’t stare at me motionlessly
These are the translations of the song thanks to a certain someone on livejournal.
I probably should have gotten the lyrics first before I jumped ship but alas, I am that far gone as far as TGS is concerned. Now that I know what the words really meant, it all makes sense. That tensions around Miyu, the glances she kept sending Hitomi’s way – Usually, I would spot these things out just like that *snaps fingers*. I guess that I was just so impatient.
Miyu was secretly in love with Hitomi but too scared to approach her so she created this persona of Takayuki instead and used it to send texts to Hitomi.
I look at the sky
It reflects soft sunlight
and shines
The wind carrying my sighs
It will send them to the clouds
That is, that is exactly what
Candy floss, cotton candy is
A softly floating love sceneI am not honest
I want to be kind but
I can’t do it
I’m scared of what will happen
if you notice meOne day, will the time
I know the answer surely come?
If our hearts overlap,
can we be reborn?
Before I know itI fall in love with someone
I get a strange feeling
I really don’t know
what I should do
If I make sure of it,
it will disappear
Candy floss, just like that sweet fleeting dream
of cotton candyIf I could,
I would tell you
But I can’t
These two feelings are reflecting
and are glisteningThat is, that is exactly
Candy floss, just like that sweet fleeting dream
of cotton candy
And the second and last part of the lyrics.
Yep, this had to be Miyu. A friend in love with another friend is really…And though it didn’t look like she said anything, I guess only a true idiot would not come to the conclusion that it was that friend in love with them if they showed up at the meeting place instead.
Judging by that trillion WATT smile on Hitomi’s face after she sees Miyu, she’s no idiot and probably figured it out and very likely accepted the feelings by the happy ending!
I am so glad I was wrong! Now I feel like that fic is not necessary any more but alas, it already exists so I will leave it there.
And so dear readers, there you have it. ‘Love Like Candy Floss’ was 100% yuri about Miyu’s hidden feelings for Hitomi and her finally getting up the courage to come forward.
Thank God Miyu didn’t let her feelings fleet like Candy Floss on the wind.
A yuri PV and Song right there. If you are interested in watching it, get it HERE (MF)….
And as expected the PV looks great, indeed just like Candy to my eyes!
Okay, enough of that!
See you next time.

got really curious about this so I looked into it and good thing that episode is still in their Ustream.
btw, 山邊未夢の東京女子会 is “Yamabe Miyu no Tokyo Joshi Kai” (Yamabe Miyu’s Tokyo Girl’s Club/Meeting) ^^
that time it was still sort of a spoiler so Miyu whispered that she was Takayuki. But that detail alone made all the difference. And its no surprise that everyone’s favorite bit were Miyu and Hitomi’s scenes. The song and pv are beautiful, would definitely watch it again now.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up.
As for the PV, no secret I guess as to why it’s my favourite. Liar had a kiss sure but I still know not what was the deal with that?! I guess I really am more of a ‘subtext’ person than ‘text’.
And yeah, their PV are waaay out there. And they seem to get even more beautiful by the release. I shudder to think of what they will look like when the girls are more popular (like say, their 20th single) – I can predict a huge amount of eyegasms going off…ahem Sorry!

I didn’t want to ruin the pleasure you are in so I did not comment on this before. But I wanted to tell you that I like the original version of this song from SweetS. The very first one actually…

It’s alright. I already knew this was a cover. I love this PV version better though ^^
