New Movies to look forward to.

１．Maria-sama ga Miteru

Haru – Sachiko

Honoka Miki – Yumi

Starting with what brought most here, yes, Marimite is getting a movie. Starting filming soon so that explains why I can’t find the website yet. The cast is set in stone though and a press conference has already been held. This removes any doubts I had about the movie actually being made.

I will be posting some pics later when I find them but for now, here are some youtube vids to hype you guys up for what’s to come.

Oh! And it seems Yumi is being played by a 13yr old! That should be first year of junior High in Japan, right? Not high school. Haru who plays Sachiko was in Sakura no Sono as well. Looks like her role there might have won her the spot! Though I would’ve **** bricks if Fukuda Saki had played Sachiko.

Oh well, no complaining here.

2. Love Kakera: A Story Of Our Life

Hikari is back at it again. I am adding her to my List of Japanese Actresses to look out for.

If you remember, she played a superb role in the longest movie I’ve ever watched Love Exposure, as a high school girl that fell in love with Scorpion, a person she thought was a girl but was a guy in disguise. Then the enemy who was a girl came onto the scene and claimed to be the mysterious Scorpion. Hikari not knowing the true identity of Scorpion fell for the girl and the two spent a third of a 4hr movie making out and snogging like crazy, even in school.

But I am getting ahead of myself. I need to review this movie.

Anyway, In this one, Riko falls in love with Haru (Hikari) who had just had a falling out with her boyfriend. Riko’s feelings are too strong even for Haru who wasn’t ready for it to go that far. Anyway, no spoiling but the good news is that the DVD is said to be releasing in June (Finally, a quick one).

3. Bushido 16

Kitano Kii – Sanae

Last but not least, once again Riko, who is already on my said list, co-stars with another girl in this kendo drama Bushido 16 with one famous Kitano Kii. You might remember her in that lovely JDrama LIFE in which she played Ayumu alongside Fukuda Saki as Manami.

I love Riko because most of her movies and Dramas have lots of subtext. For example, the movies Ashita no Watashi –  in which she played alongside Maeda Atsuko of AKB48, Madara Shoujo – where she was a snake girl and in the Drama Special Eien 1.8 Seconds – Which aired way back in 2007 but I just got my hands on it and will be reviewing after I watch it.

In this Bushido 16, Riko plays Kaori, a girl brought up in the kendo world and her father has high expectations of but for some reason, she keeps losing to Sanae (Kii), who only sees kendo as a passing interest.

Will the long rivalry keep on going between the two or is it finally time to get past it?

Hit cinemas in Japan a week ago. DVDs will probably be out next fall or so.

Can’t wait for it.

Riko is also releasing another movie soon about calligraphy – Shodo Girls. I will get it too. Who knows it might have some subtext as well.
