Hello all, I hope you are having a lovely day and not being bored like I am at the office. Anyway, over the weekend I was fortunate enough to fall upon a new drama currently airing in Japan titled – Tantei no Tantei. As the title suggests, it is a drama about a detective agency that specializes in other detective. It is the Anti-Detective Agency who role is to take down corrupt agents.

It’s a 2 person agency or three if you count the one that initiated it but he never takes direct part in the actual work even though his subject report to him. Okay, let’s make it three since he (Yuma) is the one that recruits and kind of overseas the Agency. The rest of the members are Kitagawa Keiko’s Sasaki Rena as the original member and Kawaguchi Haruna’s Minemori Kotoha the new recruit and kind of the secretary of the Anti Detectives.

The drama is just on episode 4 with the fifth coming either tomorrow or the day after and man, was I hooked and wished I had found this after it was complete! First of all I love these kinds of drama (Kurokochi and Boss as an example) then there is the fact that Kitagawa and Kawaguchi were listed at the top of the casting! Those two tidbits combined it would have been near impossible to put me away from this show even if it was 1000% het!

Thankfully there is none of that, not even 10% so this was a must watch! I actually found this by accident! I didn’t see caps of it to hook me or even a post, I was just intrigued by the title and when I saw the OP of the first episode I went information digging!

But the real question is, why am I writing about this? Does it have yuri? For now I would say no! But the chemistry between Rena and Kotoha is going places and I will be damned if I am not there for the ride!

So, the last time we left off with Hong-do dumping Yun-bok in a stream to cool off because she was acting like a brat. He was planning on taking him to this Doctor he knew that would take care of Yun-bok’s hand. This 4th episode picks up right from where the other left off.

With the main character intros out of the way, these discussions are going to get shorter and shorter especially when we hit those episodes where Jeong-hyang doesn’t show up. Hell, she took her sweet time appearing in this one that I almost thought those episodes were already upon us. But after watching this, I am reminded that it will be a while still before we are deprived of the lovely Jeong-hyang.

First of all – Yun-bok you fool!

Secondary I wish to apologize for thinking that the last episode was too dramatic! If that was dramatic then this third episode is comical in comparison! Seriously, I was sitting there wondering how I didn’t rail on this show as it was airing! Back then I was very new to things and was so flighty that I should have tore this show a new one but then again I guess it is the same reason why I managed to sit through it this time too. I wanted desperately to hit that skip button because of all the over the top drama but my love for Yun-bok and Jeong-hyang compelled me to take it all in, even the painful scenes! Seriously, as lovely as Moon Geun-young is it was a challenge sitting through her scenes, especially towards the end there after the-unmentionable hits the fan.

Thank the Lord that the Yun-bok/Jeong-hyang scenes are not as over-dramatic as the rest of the story. And speaking of these two, something totally changed between them this episode, well, more on Jeong-hyang’s side than Yun-bok but really, Yun-bok had it bad for the beauty of the town since she had laid eyes on Jeong-hyang so no change there on her part. This show aired in 2008 and yet Jeong-hyang and Yun-bok are still going strong as my favourite TV couple! They are yet to be dethroned by any other after all these years!

Really, thinking of it now, forget what I have said before. 2008 is the best year of yuri ever! That year we had movies like ‘Beautiful Crazy’, ‘Candy Rain’, ‘Miao Miao’, and the ‘Spider Lilies’ DVD came out that year too. Then we had ‘As One’ (AKA Forever the Moment), ‘Hellcats’, ‘Love Exposure’, ‘Martyrs’ and ‘Blood The Last vampire – Last Blood’. In TV we had this very show – ‘Painter of the Wind’, ‘Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles’, ‘Tru Blood’ and ‘Legend of the Seeker’. Meanwhile in Japan Toda Erika and Aragaki Yui graced the small screen together for the second time in ‘Code Blue’ and not to mention ‘Last Friends’ was that year too then there was ‘Gakkou ja Oshirarenai’ and FINALLY ‘Men-dol Ikemen Idol’. In anime we got ‘Mnemosyne’, ‘Michiko to Hatchin’, ‘Shigofumi’ (only one episode though), ‘Strike Witches’, ‘Koihime Musou’, ‘Code Geass’ (dat lesbian table humping), ‘Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae (the season that matters), ‘Ga-rei Zero’ and ‘Ikkitousen Great Guardians’. Seriously, just thinking of it now 2008 was one scary year!

Dear NOGIBINGO, why are you so damn awesome?!

Seriously, I want to know! They have only had just over 50 episodes so far and yet it feels like they have had more segments than AKBINGO has had in its 350+ episode run! Just this week they introduced a whole new segment! Meanwhile in AKBINGO, they are doing the fashion segment for like, the nth time now! What are they, some kind of advertising company? I miss the actual fashion show that began it all – you know the Coplay one that was, now that I think about it, hosted by Ijiri! Ah the irony!

Meanwhile NOGIBINGO knows what the fans want and they are still delivering in aces even as the segments are new and no longer copies of the old AKBINGO ones. That was like so season one, they are on the 5th now and things are getting better still. I mean come on, a segment where the girls get to act out their mousou lives as Oneesama with the members of their choice as their Imouto?! What is more awesome than that? Seriously, it almost even beats Danso for me because if you think about it, even though under the Danso they are still girls, the concept is that they are guys during those Danso segments so it is actually not yuri. Meanwhile here we get to not only have actual girl and girl, but this is essentially wincest!

Very interesting that they chose this segment now especially when you think that on 4chan people call each other Oneesama instead of Anon. I wonder if someone in AKBINGO production is a member of /u/. I can’t think it a coincidence that they chose the Oneesama segment for this season.

The couples this first time ever were kind of a mixed bag for me at first but that was only because I was expecting different couples. But then I thought that the couples I was thinking about wouldn’t work as sisters and more as lovers so I watched the episode again and enjoyed it immensely for what it was. I actually came away with a ship or two as well.

Real Onigokko Rising SP Part2

Just finished watching the third and final episode of the ‘Real Onigokko Rising’ Special and once gain Japan has done it! They have managed to surprise me! You see, I was this close to giving up on the episode half-way because it was heading in the direction that I so did not want and the main character was not my cup of tea when it comes to personality traits. I think I hated her with a passion at some point.

But Japan was like ‘HAHAHA the joke is on you’ because that ending took me by surprise! When I watched the trailer it gave me the wrong impression of the main character so when she started changing at around the mid-way my enthusiasm was dwindling by the minute! But thank the Lord for that ending!

Eh, I might as well say it now since I am sure you have seen it if you read the previous post. Despite the trailer giving an impression of a BAD END, the poster itself not painting a positive picture, this third episode was a GOOD END! In fact it was the best end out of the three (or two since episode one is irrelevant). Why is it a GOOD END? Well it was lacking something to get to that level – There was no kiss!

It is interesting really when you compare the second episode with this. In the second episode we got to have some great yuri moments throughout the story and yet that was balanced out with a BAD END – OniOni returned back into doll-form and Marika went mad after losing her. Or maybe they merged who knows.

Anyway we got real yuri but a BAD END in episode two and yet here in this final episode we got a GOOD END (by that I mean the ‘they live happily ever after’ kind of ending) but as a sacrifice, there was a lack of yuri moments throughout the story’s progression. In fact the most yuri moment happened way after the climax towards the end – it was the last scene actually.

This balance made me happy at the end of it all! I got to experience two different takes on yuri and both of them are not that bad! We could have gotten a BAD END with this episode and that would have cancelled out all the yuri because it would have made our main character nothing but a deranged girl! She wouldn’t even be considered a lesbian if she would have done what it would have taken to make this a BAD END!

But we got a GOOD END and our main character turned out to not be a crazy lesbian after all and actually a pretty nice girl. Instead the other heroine our character was crushing on turned out to be crazier than her which-Oh snap, that is a huge plot point. Best jump right into it then, eh?
