A goddamned yuri baiting series in the frikkin 2020!!

I should have trusted my sixth sense! I really should have! Other than the simple fact that one should never ever trust a series where girls who have just met make out in the very episode they meet, that episode let alone being the first episode, I had a feeling you know!

First off this discount Hailee is just too cute to be gay, like they usually are, unless you are Thai then that rule doesn’t apply (them cute lesbians tho), then the stupidly obvious, we were drunk so it doesn’t count bullshit, really, all the flags were there!

I should have listened to my gut! But you know what they say, once you dare to hope, it’s all over for you! There is no turning back and once you hope, you are either in for a world of hurt or a world of hearts! Turns out it was the former!

Goddamn it!

The thing is that I can’t just outright hate the series given that Micki (Juju – the blonde) is actually truly honestly gay so I have to support her and the fact that she only discovered her gayness here, well, one can’t just write her off like that!

My love for her though won’t keep my hate from flowing over everything else, especially given that the person that her crush Daria (Margherita – discount Hailee Steinfeld), chooses over Micki is her own damn brother! Fuck, they even have sex when she and Daria’s twin brother are right in the next room!! Talk about insanity!

What hurts most is that even by the end of the series there is hope given the way things end but just like everything else in a pity party box, it all just feels so artificial even as there is a chance they might end up together!

Why? because they would be fake Daria and Micki!

Lost? Let me explain quick! You see, in this town where Daria and her twin brother return to, has a legend going around of people’s shadows coming out of the local lake and taking over the real people’s lives! When she was young, something happened to Daria’s mother but she escaped thanks to her grandfather sending her away but the nightmares bring her back!

These shadow selves manifest when one feels true despair and the real person usually meets a unpleasant end! Daria’s mother was lucky as her father locked fake mother away after she had killed his wife!

As soon as they get back, Daria’s mother goes missing, only she was kidnapped by her shadow who had escaped thanks to Daria’s twin brother who had freed her! Shit then starts to happen again beginning with the guy that had a crush on Micki but as we see Micki wasn’t into guys and despite confiding in him, he outs her as a lesbian to the whole school!

That is also where Micki and Daria’s relationships takes a nosedive before it even takes off! Poor Micki, she was so in love, no, even by the end she was so in love and it was her love that boosted by her father actually having been a shadow of himself all this time since before he was even born, it’s what sends her into the transition into birthing her shadow!

Meanwhile, Daria too starts showing signs of her shadow coming about after she breaks down from the death of their mother. At the end of season 1 we see both Daria and Micki’s shadows fighting to break the surface of the frozen lake to come and take over!

These shadows have something in common, they all are the real person’s true unrestrained selves that they hide away all the time! So you just damn well know that those two shadows of Daria and Micki will be a thing but like I said, artificial and empty gifts!

God, and here I was finally looking forward to a substantial Italian teen series relevant to our community! I should have listened to my gut! I should not have trusted Daria! Characters like her always get on my nerves but her pretty face made me bring down my guard and their moment was too sweet and they were just too good together to stay disconnected!

Believe me, lessons learned! I swear it!

Anyway, at least the horror/fantasy aspect kept me interested and also Micki is actually gay so I kind of recommend it, now that you know what you are in for!

And now Italy wants in on the action too with Luna Nera!

It’s short, just like Diablero, but again I am sure they will get a second season. At least I hope they do because they have a lot to answer to, especially to us the shippers!

Mika Ninagawa strikes again!!!

Yes, this is that Director that slapped some sense into the Idol world with AKB48’s Heavy Rotation MV! She then went on to kill it in the movies with Sawajiri Erika’s return hit Helter Skelter, that also starred Mizuhara Kiho, both of whom by the way, are among the cameos that graced this Netflix series – Followers!!!

Given her limited number of projects though, I think I have already pegged her! She is in that same slot as Sion Sono as they have a lot in common in the way they shoot their projects and the subject matters they put forward along with the way they shoot their yuri!!!

Speaking of yuri, our girl Sunny (played by KOM_I) is the fuckin shit!! Total girlfriend material right here! Her character is worlds and beyond fuckin everything!!! She is cool, she is fashionable, she is good hearted, she is 100% gaygod, she is an artist, she is a goddamn ICON!!!

God Damn, I only watched this series yesterday and I already dreamed about her! Like, what the hell even…

Now, as for the real meat of the yuri in this show, and by that I mean Sunny and Natsume (Ikeda Elaiza), this was the most painful love I have seen in a long while! I am kinda pissed off at the ending, like, they did not make it clear where Sunny and Natsume stand!

Yeah, one can guess that she loves Dick and does not return Sunny’s feelings but all we go that shows that she denied her was the (maybe) sorry she gave during the confession scene but one can take is too as her apologising for un-knowingly hurting Sunny!

And Sunny did make it clear that she would be loving Natsume still from now on and forever given the way she swore to stand by Natsume no matter what! Watch the video to see what a great confession scene that was!

And speaking of video, I think I broke the record of longest MV ever!!! Like, almost 9 frikkin minutes people!!! NINE MINUTES!!!!

You thought I pitied those that watch just less than two minutes of an MV in the last post? Heh, poor people will want to go lie down for a week after this one, if they manage to finish it this decade ^^

Seriously though, I am happy with it and I think it needed to be that long to deliver the full feelings of Sunny and show Natsume’s side too. Yeah, it’s the dialogue that makes it that long!

Anyway, back to the love story, Nina left us hungry for the conculsions like she did with Helter Skelter’s Ririko and Kozue during the ending when Kozue went to Ririko’s bar!

That’s kinda of a dick…sorry, vagoo move there Mika!

But even so, all kinds of shippers can construct their own endings. Though it is sad that we never got a private convo between SUnny and Natsume since the confession (that happened in ep7 of 9), Natsume still interacted with Sunny as usual, in fact the very first kiss we see her give Sunny (albeit on the cheek) came after the confession so…And that tender moment during Limi’s final speech, kind of reflecting how Sunny held her face during the confession, is all kinds of mutualism, if you know what I mean…

But, even if one thinks that this is one-sided, it makes no difference! Sunny still made out with two other hot girls, in two of the hottest make out scenes you will ever see on Japanese Television! Nah, you will never see that on Japanese Television! That was ‘The Forest of Love’ levels of hotness!!!
