I mean, I did say it, didn’t I? That this movie moved up in the video queue! Well, at the very least no one thought it would be this soon, really, neither did I but I just couldn’t get it out of my head!
Especially since it turns out that it does after all win that BEST END award of 2020, with BLY MANOR a close second. Yeah, I know that was a very depressing ending but good is more than happiness!
But first, as usual I have to begin with a 2020 disclaimer:
This is me today…
My Lovely Readers…
But 2020 be like…
Jesus Christ, we are not machines! Well, I don’t know about my Readers but I am not a machine, or a god! I am merely human! I can only handle too much greatness in one year for crying out loud! And like 2020 says, we are not done at all! What I believe to be the best has yet to come…actually, cancel it, what I believe to be the best, is already upon us! I am watching it tonight so if I survive, I will be posting about it the day after tomorrow (tomorrow is video day).
Now, why couldn’t you just be your own movie! You could have been awesome had you not tried to be something you are not!
A reader recommended this movie to me a long while back but it was still restricted to Thailand. Now I can finally watch it and I have to say I could have loved this movie so much if only it just stuck to be itself!
I was so taken out with that, especially since it started from the very beginning that even when the movie brought something new and interesting, I just couldn’t erase what had already happened!
You all have probably already caught what I mean, from the moment the maid ( Ploy) first arrives, to the structure ( it tried anyway), it was blatant I just couldn’t!
Then there’s the reason I was re recommended this movie, the yuri…There was absolutely no reason for it to exist in this movie! You can erase every last seconds of it and it wouldn’t make a lick of difference! Like, WTF was that!? I expect that level of tomfoolery from Japan but not you Thailand!
Yeah, in case you can’t tell, I was only slightly impressed, only by what the movie did on its own merit (crazy ass maid)! The yuri, the unnecessary supernatural and everything else can burn!
When Mulan and The Witch spent more time flirting than fighting!
Oh come on, you knew I just had to write about this one if you have seen it. No, not because of all the politics surrounding the movie but because of the elephant in the room that everyone seems to ignore like the plague – Mulan and The Witch (AKA Xianniang)’s relationship!
First things first though, if you came for a negative, scathing, childish, rose-coloured lenses, Kansas lived review, I am about to disappoint you and I am not sorry!
I am sure there are a lot of people whose interest in the movie was killed this weekend because of the stupid baseless fury over some insinuated racist attacks that the movie seemingly is giving off and I am sorry for those people for letting some idiots on social media decide for them what to watch and what to not!
What’s worse, they watched and used pirated clips and hand picked some scenes to prove their point when in fact, if you have ever even been remotely at the end of a racist’s attack, you want to cry with laughter at what is considered extreme racism!
I am going to touch on that topic first because it seems it is what most people, who haven’t even watched the movie, have the issue with. So please, bear with me! Continue reading →
