There are only two anime series I am currently watching with one being Hibike Euphonium and the other being the subject of today’s post – Yoru no Kurage wa Oyogenai.

Why Hibike you ask, well, I am all grown up now and I no longer see the hustle in crying about past things, so what if the studio is still queer-baiting in 2024, who gives a tick when Reina is out here doing her best to make gold out of shit!

And let’s be honest, Kumiko and the Dude’s relationship went nowhere so fast everyone even Kumiko is trying their best to forget it existed!

Anyway, back to the subject at hand, we are only 7 episodes in, just like Hibike, and I am in deep love with this anime!

Seriously, I expected something silly, which is what I think of current anime but the sincerity of this show surprised me! They are tackling very real life issues, be in in the idol world, parenthood, childhood, school life, career life, future dreams!

Like, I am still shocked by it!

And while that is all well and good, I wouldn’t be talking about it without the gayness and even that is being handled realistically!

I don’t believe I am saying this but if they go through with Yoru (Mahiru) and Kano’s relationship, this is going to be on the list of my favourite couples of all time. It will make me give Japan more focused attention! After the last Gundam series and that Yurika series, I think they have finally realised the value in taking gay relationships seriously.

Heh, can you imagine if Hibike actually puts in the work and give us a serious relationship with Kumiko and Reina? That would be the final hammer!

But, no need to get ahead of ourselves and even Yoru no Kurage is merely beginning but even that be the case, I am thoroughly enjoying it! It’s been a while since I followed a series episode by episode.

I just love Yoru and Kano’s relationship and I love what everyone experiences in life even the other characters! They are all so real that you can’t help nodding your head as you watch and wanting to support them because you have been there, you understand and when a show handles these issues with an iron hand how can one not love and support such characters and such story!

This sincerity has got me curious as to how they are going to handle Yoru and Kano’s relationship. At the moment they are playing it off as one does when they aren’t sure how to handle things but the moment will come when they have to face up and I am waiting to see how that is handled!

Not worried at all though because I trust that the show will handle it with sincerity just like they have other aspects of the characters’ lives!

The two are already miles ahead because they have the one thing I love in couples – both parties affecting each other’s lives! Kano has already drastically changed Yoru’s life and vice versa Yoru is about to change Kano’s life, nay, she already has even with Kano not knowing it!

I lover them!

I will update when the series is over but for now, back to religiously following the series!
