Episode 5 ~ Real Life

Now that’s hot, oh that’s hot! And welcome back Anna Paquin! I totally missed you since…Tell It To The Bees days!

Actually, according to IMDB, this series was released in 2017?!! How? How am I then just finding out about it just now?!

As it says on the tin, this is an Amazon Original series titled ELECTRIC DREAMS! There are a total of 10 episodes and each episode is about 50 minutes long and is a stand alone! That means that every episode is about a different story and different characters, starring different actors!

The one I am interested in is episode 5 – Real Life, because calling it something dreams would be infringing on the title itself I guess, seeing as the episode itself is about dream…gone awry!

Well, to be more specific, this is of course a Sci-Fi series and as such takes place in multiple futures. This one in particular has device that lets people take holidays…from life! In that you can take a holiday into your mind and live out your dream as if it was real and you were in a different reality!

Unfortunately for our married women Sarah (Anna) and Katie (Rachelle), Sarah has some deep rooted trauma that she can’t shake and while this vacation was to help her get away from them, things take a turn for the worst because Sarah blurs the lines between the worlds and doesn’t know anymore which is the real world and which is a fantasy.

The thing is that the guilt was too much that she chose to stay in the fantasy world where the reality was harsher. In there she was a guy (played by Terrence Howard actually), who while had the same occupation as her in the real world (a detective), over there she lost her wife who happened to look like Katie and was also named Katie. It makes sense since the dream holiday is partially influenced by the dreamer just like real dreams but Sarah took it the wrong way.

Since her life in the fantasy was harsher than the reality, she reversed the logic and instead took her real life as the fantasy because it was just too good to be true! In the end she chose to stay in the fantasy world by breaking the virtual device she used to come out of the dream!

Yeah, most of the stories in here don’t end on a good note and those that do, you don’t at all feel happy for the characters because they do some bad shit to have that happy ending!

I really can’t stand stories like this! Stories that deal with the psychological or time because they always get to me and make me feel like a complete mess! I guess that’s why I love Sci-Fi and fantasy stories! They just hit the right chords sometimes you know! Like the original Gunbuster Anime series! The way that series played with the passing of time still affects me to this day! And why also I am a huge fan of Doctor Who!

These stories always fuck me up good! Like, at one point I really thought that Sarah was right and that her life with Katie was the fantasy and that Katie is actually dead and that was the trauma but it turned out that it was the reality after all!!

God!

Anyway, Anna and Rachelle were perfect in this and this series would have been an award winning show and one of my favourites but there is one thing standing in the way of that…Sometimes the editing is atrocious!

So much potential!!!

I call them Heirs of Rilaya!

Like, come on, their hands even glowed when they touched!!!

So, who are these two anyway? These are Alisa Von Vamalia and Ivy from last year’s Fantasy (Vampires and Werewolves) series ‘Heirs of the Night’. Alisa in the dark haired one who might be a descendant of Dracula himself while Ivy, the blonde, is a wandering half-breed and their paths cross when Ivy is searching for a special stone that would turn her friend back into a human having been stuck in animal mode.

They are so perfect for one another by both circumstance and character and they have the potential to have that thick of a relationship not so unlike Xena and Gabrielle or more close to home, Rilaya from ‘Girl Meets World’. Seriously, if it weren’t for the fact that it is kind of hard to get access to the series, Tumblr would be all over this ship!!

The weird thing is that Alisa is written in such a way that she seems open to any kind of relationship and thus it wouldn’t be so shocking for her and Ivy having been heading in that direction but as most ships usually go, unfortunately Alisa is involved in a love triangle that has nada to do with Ivy but rather with a human and her Bestie, who by the way, is being set up as hooking up with Ivy down the road despite being head over heels in lust with Alisa!

I will just keep hope high that Alisa’s visions were wrong and that things will change! I still believe in the power of originality thanks to EMISON! Also it is only Ivy who has travelled with Alisa into her dreams, thanks to the glowy hands by the way, which happened right after they had the INTENSE GAY STARE moment so really, and then there is the very nature of their connection so far so it’s not like I don’t have basis for my optimism!

Seriously though, just look at them! Totally shipping material! Even without the little tidbits, one can ship them from their appearance alone! Hey, if Rei and Asuka can be shipped, Alisa and Ivy here can 100% be shipped too!

I see the crown of baiting still stands!

Now, there is a reason why I punished myself with this…movie. I had just watched the Violet Evergarden movie and I quite liked what I saw and yes, it was also BAIT ( ®KyoAni ), but I quite liked it.

And you might be like,. but this is Hibike, you should have learned your lesson! Yes you are right, I learned my lesson, but it wouldn’t be bait if no one fell for it, am I right…

No, it’s not gay!

Oh! My! God!

Have you ever seen a movie that tried so hard to convince you it was not gay that even Angels in Heaven and Demons in Hell rolled their eyes at the embarrassment?! No? Well, I have a movie that fits that spot perfectly!

Usually movies like this make me so angry I throw a fit for years to come but in the case of Banana Split, angry is the farthest emotion I have after watching this movie! In fact it is so embarrassing that I will even make a vid about it!

Yes, it’s that gay!

It’s so gay that even the camera used to shoot this movie turned gay!

In fact, if you watched this movie with a baby around, they would be crying ghey-ghey!

But guess what, despite the visible quantitative evidence, the movie goes out of its way to tell you that April and Clara are not gay! It says that but then it does the exact opposite! I swear to you, if you watch this movie and come away thinking that there’s nothing gay about it, I will get on my knees and kiss your feet!

Since I am making a video about this, I will just leave it here. I just wanted to let you all know my feelings about it!
