So, upon the announcement of the sequel to Umbrella Academy, I decided to go and re-watch the show because my crush on white-eyed, suit-wearing Vanya sprung up again out of the blue!

I also remember that the ending had me stupidly shipping Allison and Vanya even with all the shit that went down let alone how unlikeable Allison was before, interestingly, she got her throat cut open like a hot knife to soft butter!

Come on, don’t look at me like that! You know you too were intrigued by the fact that it was Allison, who the strongest reason to hate the new Vanya, given that she almost killed her, be the only one to be on Vanya’s side when everyone else was not!

But while that thread is already interesting for the next season to see where those tow go, there was this other scene that raised my eyebrows and I can’t help think of where it too will be going, that is if the show-runners even remember the scene at all!

That scene in question was where Vanya was on the bus heading to the concert with her lonesome violin, and on that bus there was this girl who was looking at Vanya like we all were – like she wanted to do nothing but take Vanya right then and there!

That scene was pretty peculiar, and it stayed with me even to now! Given that Vanya was literally and probably figuratively locked away inside herself when Allison made her think she was just an ordinary girl when they were little (Allison has the power of persuasion) because Vanya’s power was too great, in fact so much so she literally ends the world at the end of season one, one might think that maybe her other qualities that might be considered out of the ordinary might also have been locked away all this time and when she was free, they were also freed!

Yeah, I am talking about her being into girls! This is of course just wishful thinking but the way she dressed even before she awoke, the fact that she never got close to anyone until that psycho got to her to use her and then there was that girl on the bus!

One just can’t help but think you know…

Oh well, we shall soon find out now that we are getting season 2! Until then…

A goddamned yuri baiting series in the frikkin 2020!!

I should have trusted my sixth sense! I really should have! Other than the simple fact that one should never ever trust a series where girls who have just met make out in the very episode they meet, that episode let alone being the first episode, I had a feeling you know!

First off this discount Hailee is just too cute to be gay, like they usually are, unless you are Thai then that rule doesn’t apply (them cute lesbians tho), then the stupidly obvious, we were drunk so it doesn’t count bullshit, really, all the flags were there!

I should have listened to my gut! But you know what they say, once you dare to hope, it’s all over for you! There is no turning back and once you hope, you are either in for a world of hurt or a world of hearts! Turns out it was the former!

Goddamn it!

The thing is that I can’t just outright hate the series given that Micki (Juju – the blonde) is actually truly honestly gay so I have to support her and the fact that she only discovered her gayness here, well, one can’t just write her off like that!

My love for her though won’t keep my hate from flowing over everything else, especially given that the person that her crush Daria (Margherita – discount Hailee Steinfeld), chooses over Micki is her own damn brother! Fuck, they even have sex when she and Daria’s twin brother are right in the next room!! Talk about insanity!

What hurts most is that even by the end of the series there is hope given the way things end but just like everything else in a pity party box, it all just feels so artificial even as there is a chance they might end up together!

Why? because they would be fake Daria and Micki!

Lost? Let me explain quick! You see, in this town where Daria and her twin brother return to, has a legend going around of people’s shadows coming out of the local lake and taking over the real people’s lives! When she was young, something happened to Daria’s mother but she escaped thanks to her grandfather sending her away but the nightmares bring her back!

These shadow selves manifest when one feels true despair and the real person usually meets a unpleasant end! Daria’s mother was lucky as her father locked fake mother away after she had killed his wife!

As soon as they get back, Daria’s mother goes missing, only she was kidnapped by her shadow who had escaped thanks to Daria’s twin brother who had freed her! Shit then starts to happen again beginning with the guy that had a crush on Micki but as we see Micki wasn’t into guys and despite confiding in him, he outs her as a lesbian to the whole school!

That is also where Micki and Daria’s relationships takes a nosedive before it even takes off! Poor Micki, she was so in love, no, even by the end she was so in love and it was her love that boosted by her father actually having been a shadow of himself all this time since before he was even born, it’s what sends her into the transition into birthing her shadow!

Meanwhile, Daria too starts showing signs of her shadow coming about after she breaks down from the death of their mother. At the end of season 1 we see both Daria and Micki’s shadows fighting to break the surface of the frozen lake to come and take over!

These shadows have something in common, they all are the real person’s true unrestrained selves that they hide away all the time! So you just damn well know that those two shadows of Daria and Micki will be a thing but like I said, artificial and empty gifts!

God, and here I was finally looking forward to a substantial Italian teen series relevant to our community! I should have listened to my gut! I should not have trusted Daria! Characters like her always get on my nerves but her pretty face made me bring down my guard and their moment was too sweet and they were just too good together to stay disconnected!

Believe me, lessons learned! I swear it!

Anyway, at least the horror/fantasy aspect kept me interested and also Micki is actually gay so I kind of recommend it, now that you know what you are in for!

Guard back up!
