Hard Boiled Night ep02
So sorry this took long but a Reader reminded me of this when they commented and reminded me of how awesome Miyu is and so here we are with the second episode/part of this story.
Seriously, Miyu was a total Badass in this movie! I really love TGS, they know how to utilize the girls’ traits/skills. Of course Ayano and Mei would play Angela the Diva of The Narrows! Of course Yuri would take on the bouncer role, with her usually masculine ways. And of course Miyu would play the scary role! Many people cower under her just from looking at them! Definitely the best choice for a yakuza!
Then there are the relationships between the characters. Just as usual in their works, there would always either be something between Miyu and Hitomi or Miyu and Mei. They were connected here too, in fact much more so than usual all three were connected unlike before. The intensity between Hitomi and Miyu was off the charts this episode. Sadly it is not in a romantic way but rather in that clashing way! They are enemies, there is no denying that but at the same time there is something under the layers that just makes us fans jump in our seats with giddiness!
Interestingly Ayano wasn’t neglected this time around. She is usually the third wheel when it comes to pairings but not this time. That is all I have to say about her at this moment as anything more would be spoilers. Then again I am pretty sure if anyone has seen the first part they have seen the whole movie seeing as it is not broken down into parts. But please pretend it is!
Meanwhile with Mei and Yuri, things go back to the usual with them not being utilized in official works. The only time we got MeiYuri was in Tsuioku, before and after that Mei was strangely almost always paired with Miyu. It got to the point where I thought there would be bad blood between those two. But then again it is all professional, Yuri still gets to have Mei to herself outside of work so…Anyway let’s move this along.
COMA [K-Drama]
‘Coma’ is a 2005 five episode drama that tells the same story but through different perspectives of major characters. There is the Insurance Broker, the Doctor, the Nurse, the Detective and the Artist. The short series is so perfectly executed that it feels nothing like watching the same thing five different times from different point of views but rather the story still progresses, somehow! To this day I am still wondering how they had managed to do it. But then again, these were the times when movies the likes of ‘A Tale of two Sisters’ were being dished out like it was child’s play! Those were the times.
I believe I mentioned it in my ‘Youth’ post but I have been doing random re-watching of archived files because these days are so boring. One of the shows that popped up was COMA. I remember that someone recommended this to me in 2006 I think. They first asked me if I had heard of Coma and having just watched a movie whose title sounded alike and starring Kar Yan Lam and Angelica Lee. Its title – KOMA. I thought it was what they meant but then they said it was Korean but KOMA was from Hong Kong so it couldn’t have been it. A quick search pointed me to D-Addicts (*crying*) who didn’t disappoint.
Tantei no Tantei ep05
“I don’t care if I have to do errands all day or work for free. Please just let me be by your side.” – Kotoha!
What is this?! Did I suddenly jump into the Quantum Zone of some sort? Twice! Twice Kotoha displayed her need to be with Rena this episode! And no, I did not make that line up! Kotoha went and said those words to Rena! Right in front of their employee too, because we need a witness! And it might just be me but it seems he is not the only one in support of the Rena/Kotoha relationship. But more on this would be spoilers so let’ not go there, yet.
The Youth [K-Movie]
So, I can’t believe it has taken me this long to make the connection (it hasn’t been that long really) but when watching ‘The Silenced‘ I had a feeling that I had seen the girl who played Yeon-deok somewhere before. I am not talking about the fact that she reminds me of A-reum by the way. So over the weekend, I select randomly a bunch of movies to re-watch and one of the movies is one that she was in.
That movie is ‘The Youth’.
