I LOOOOVE UZA!
Leaving the deadly lyrics on the side (I’ve heard worse, much worse, and in both senses of the word!), UZA is just like the other of its kind that came before it (RIVER, BEGINNER, KazeFui) in that I can’t get it out of my head!
Though I kind of wish this was NMB’s six single, to make the perfect record ( I don’t like the cute-idolish Kitagawa Kenji! My NMB is supposed to be cool! not cute!), I guess it is just as well that I got it on the AKB side.
Needless to say, UZA is on my On the Go playlist so you betcha I have listened to it like, tens of times.
I don’t understand why I see a lot of Nay-sayers about this song! They complain about now all songs sounding the same and when we get a different thing, reverse complaints start flying, seriously! So what if it’s auto-tune? So what?! I want to direct them to Operas but I ain’t that bad…yet.
Buuut, I am no critic so I am not going to dissect the song or the PV and all that. I am simply sharing the moments I enjoyed about this PV (The song is simply lovely and genuine food for my soul).
Mayuki
Of course what better way to start things off than Mayuki!
Seriously, look at those caps of Mayuyu oh so obviously worshipping Yukirin! If that isn’t the brightest smile in this supposedly serious PV, and if that Joker Yukirin in a Box isn’t the most memorable moment in this PV, I give thee permission to give me the weird eye!
Me thinks AkiP is trying to get to my good side for shattering the Team B seal image of Mayuki by candy-pleasing me with this moment!
I will consider it dearest Yasusu, I will consider it!
Mayuyu was simply brilliant in this PV and it’s a shame she isn’t the Acchan replacement but Jurina isn’t bad either. It’s just that, even though he tries to play it, and probably had been in the works since the very beginning (Oogoe D) the fact is still that Jurina is primarily an SKE48 member! I wouldn’t be bothered by this fact but SKE48 is getting so big that it can stand alone now so Jurina can easily be the centre of SKE48, so why!
Any way, back to the topic at hand, Mayuyu was awesome here and I am surprised by how grown up she is now. Of course she still acts like a kid when with Yukirin. I guess it is true that she was super spoiled by her. Though it was the good kind because she isn’t broken by the pampering but rather she has grown up very well. So I guess Yukirin can take part of the credit for the way Mayuyu turned out. I wonder if the plan is for her to work on Paruru! or maybe Sakura! I will go for Sakura-chan!

Yukirin really was at home in that Joker – It is the Joker! The clown costume is different, very different! Everything black really seems to have been made for her. I am starting to think Yukirin instead of Black. (How much is that Yukirin leather coat?”)

Then of course, the biggest surprise of this single, and yes, that includes the double centre…

I did not see that coming!
I mean this isn’t the senbatsu single so seeing someone out of nowhere, who isn’t being pushed, in it is a WHAM moment for sure! And damn, was I happy at her placement – almost right next to Yukirin in the back (damn you Paruru!)
This means I am going to see her from now on in a lot of PV be it senbatsu or non-senbatsu releases. She already impressed me and it seems she had impressed Yukirin so much that she actually made her her imouto (It actually happened. I have evidence). So now that Mayuyu is all grown up and left the nest, a new chick arrives for Yukirin to polish up.(Which I am very much looking forward to, be it fiction of reality).
Things are getting very interesting now.

I just heard Rena’s favourite AKB member is Yukirin. I couldn’t stop hearing Yukirin compliment Rena’s beauty in the last Request hour – Where BTW they both performed Temo Demo no Namida!

I applaud the director for putting these two together in this PV. If there is a scene that screams ‘POWER and INTEGRITY’ these two were it!
I just saw the MSta performance where Sayanee took over for Jurina (Because of their anniversary performance) and she was just so comfy with the role one could easily feel and realise why she is called Supergirl. She look so at ease as if she had been working the same position for years. She made it look so damn easy.
NMB is so lucky to have her, though the girls themselves are individually great to begin with.

Speaking of NMB, I sure was surprised by the amount of screen time Milky got. She beat most of the AKB girls in length of appearance for sure. I guess it’s because she is now part of AKB as well.
And damn, the Director did their research because her appearance is oozing BADNESS (That other kind of badness).
She is a great addition to Team B, she is. With Black Yukirin, her, Sour Fresh Lemon (She is back-hearted too), Soul Eater Paruru and mysterious Renacchi (Kato Rena), team B is turning into one BAD TEAM!

Then of course there is that other kind of bad and boy does Yuko-senpai breathe badness!
The only other centre I can think of that could go head to head with her and not cream their pants is T-ara’s Ji-yeon (That girl kills by simply gazing at you. And if you-re unlucky to catch her eye while in game-mode, well, goodbye Sweet prince/Princess).
There is some things you just can’t question, and Yuko-senpai’s Top-Bitch status is one of them! When it’s time for action, she is in action mode so you best stay clear boy!
Sad that she was shafted by Yasusu-bias even though she is supposed to be centre of this PV with Jurina it sure as hell didn’t seem that way. Well, by looking at her of course one just knows who is the Queen bitch of this house but the PV otherwise lies!
Which is it?!
I was kind of lost as to who the real centres were. Usually these kinds of PVs have general Manager Takamina double with Acchan. But it was announced that it was Yuko/Jurina but then we see Yuko/Mayuyu and Jurina/Mayuyu then there is Takamina/Mayuyu!
So forgive me for being as lost as, well…
There were of course some disappointments and I feel bad for the fans of the neglected girls who only appeared for like, split-seconds.
Mariko-sama sure was loved by the camera man with all those close-ups she got.
Tomochin looks good in everything. Look at that pilot swagger she’s got going!
The dances were great in UZA and I am really starting to think someone is stalking me from Japan because it wasn’t long ago when I complained about AKB48 not being challenged enough in the dance department. I think I was posting about Fairies during that time.
And what goes and happens? UZA!
I mean the dances are still not on TGS and Fairies levels of skill but they are definitely getting there.
Okay, so there is still great things about Yasusu. Fine, I am not mad at you anymore about splitting the seal of Team B. Make no mistake though, I have not forgiven you!

Personally, the PV is not my style…I like Japanese directors better! Sure it was x 100k better than Gingham Check still not my favourite PV, Kaze wa Fuiteiru bests UZA by far in my humble opinion. Sakura-chan, seems a worthy apprentice for Yukirin, and also Milky said it also she’s into Yukirin! It seems that Yukirin’s role is that of a Drill Instructor, to prepare the soldiers for war! Well I always said Yukirin has been AKB’s German Sheppard since the very moment she got admitted. Buffing the team from the back providing solid fundamentals. I bet when she gets that confidence boost from going solo, she’ll make AKB step-up another notch! I rate UZA with a 8.9 / 10, still not liking Kahn’s style… I wonder when she graduates who’ll become AKB’s MSgt.? Oh, and I definitely agree Yukirin is AkiP’s SECRET WEAPON, I mean he selected her in one go during her audition!

If Yasusu has plans for Yukirin, they sure are taking time to be revealed and they better be a big deal if he has to keep her away like some secret treasure or something.
Or he simply doesn’t into Yukirin!
He said once that he feels she has some hesitation still (Like during her catchphrase) but I am sure she is only thinking of others. Let’s wait for her solo, where she doesn’t have to worry about anyone, to see her truly shine in all her glory.
Damn, I can’t wait for that solo!
I too still prefer Kaze to UZA, song-wise and song-message, but all other aspects UZA wins. I didn’t have any Yukirin memories for Kaze wa and Sayanee and Milky were shadowy figures. But here we have them glow and then there is of course, Sakura-chan!
I think she is already channelling the Yukirin actually. No, it’s more like a Yukirin and Mayuyu together the way she acts, or don’t act.
Either way, these two roads have already crossed.

I do agree with AkiP and Yukirin has admitted she lacks some confidence, she’ll have to gather her herself and strengthen her resolve to be alone on a stage. She’s too much the cooperative type, she rather work for others than for herself and that show when you know that she has a potential far beyond what she’s showing…I dare say she’s AKB’s most talented member, 3 instruments, acting capabilities, vocals and if she strengthens her dance, well I guess AKB will have to try and avoid a meteoric impact!
This certainly my personal liking I mean JAPANESE DIRECTORS, I liked the fact that AKB videos had some story showing in the PV, and the songs have a message, I certainly say UZA is catchy and addictive but I think it is gone from what Beginner and Kaze wa fuiteiru showed. I do agree Yukirin was sensational in this PV but then again this a personal taste I don’t like foreigners directing J-POP PV’s.
You know everyone expects Yukirin’s solo début to be AKB’s best solo ever, that’s why it is probably taking so long, it feels like forever since they made the announcement. Many magazines and blogs are saying that if as expected and she owns the Charts, that’s her graduation announcement. This solo must certainly reflect a crystalline Yukirin, pure without “impurities and adherents” for this success, this typhoon of expectations her single must show Yukirin’s true ability and talent…With no one holding her back, if speculations are correct, she’ll exit from AKB through a bigger gate than Acchan or any-other member so far and probably future.

I admit, I was actually going slightly off the 48 stuff (probably because of the massive team mixup and transferring members overseas and so on – no more Saeyaka! T_T) and back to anime more. However, it’s like AkiP could sense the loss of interest because he creates this masterpiece.
In conclusion:
