First, to burst your bubbles (I apologise…not!)
Seeing these caps, you are probably taking my title for this post quite…okay, not quite but very wrong! Why?
Well, while these caps(and many more after the jump) are quite the feast for the eye and soul, the pain they induce is twice as much!
These, dear Readers, are two title that I had the un-fortunate suffering of watching in one go and they all stomped over me pretty good. To put simply, they are in the ‘disappointment category ABOVE, the category I put Painted Skin 2 in. That is to say, they are worse!
Let’s begin with Sunny!

First of all look at that killer all-female cast! Just take a look…Then think of the potential. Add in the fact that only one girl had a boyfriend (that we saw/was mentioned). Imagine all the possibilities. If this was a class in math about probability, I would have a field day working out the potential pairings.
But
Did something happen at all? Did they delve into some emotional impact due to forbidden love of the same sex?
NO
Two hours…2 HOURS long of a movie and nothing happens (okay it was essentially a flashback movie but that ain’t no frikking excuse).
Let’s take a look at that first meeting!
Our protag, the ugly one, is completely whipped and her mind is all goey when she first meets Pretty Girl. The sequence was that much funnier because the lighting made it seem like she was actually in the presence of an Angel. If that is not love at first sight, I don’t what is!
Protag feels like dirt in the presence of this…this Otherworldly Being and at this moment I was throwing beers back with a grin on my face at the easy victory just ten or so minutes into the movie!
“This is already in my collection” – I thought!
They even go out and get drunk and there is confessions left and right and I am…Sweet Glorious Baby, this is the best thing ever!
And then the next second I felt like I was in the Antarctica, sun-bathing…naked!
My keyboard had to be thrown out and a new one took its place even before this stupid movie ended!
Get this, that scene where Protag is melting Pretty with her eyes filled with incredible adoration (The 1st pic), in walks a Dude with one of the other girls’ brother. They do the same thing with Protag as they did with her first meeting with Pretty but Over 9000x cheesy, with the music, effects and crud like that.
I think I woke up the house with my scream!
But was that enough?!
It would have been for me if the Protag (Just like every other Protag is straight) had simply fallen for the Dude and that was that. Just another day in the life of a Yuri Hunter. It would have been fine just with that. But did they stop there?
Please…
Get this, that Dude that the Protag fell for? Well…
Apparently, he was Pretty-chan’s boyfriend all along!

And I am not talking about this movie anymore. The memories are returning

Moving on…
I don’t even know where to start on this one,
I went in for awesome Jet-Li action but I stayed for the subtext then I left because of the same subtext! Yeah, it’s that bad! Of the three, this is the worst!
These two spend the whole 90% of the movie together since one was rescued by the other. They do these cute things that no matter how much resistance you have, you are eventually assimilated. The fighter fusses over the runaway (from the Queen) and it’s as if she thinks that while she had no choice but to discard her woman luxuries, there was no reason for the other to do so so she would fuss over the other on everything (see the hair scene) and the woman is apparently pregnant too so lets cubic the fussing.
The Fighter is of course after Jet but their love looks doomed while she grows closer to this new woman in her life. Things actually look pretty promising and the end is approaching and all I await is that stay-together-forever seal deal with Jet dead on duty. things look good and with only ten or so minutes to go, I can see no wrong happening…
I was wrong!
Oh was I ever wrong!
She…I…No, I am not going to explain this in detail but one sentence should do it….
BACK-STABBING BITCH – DEAD!
And that is literal

Needless to say, all these are already deleted and for super effect, deleted the deleted!
And so we get to the meaning of this entry’s title.
The fact that I suffer through this pain in search of yuri and yet I never quit, is not something to be taken lightly. Every week I research like 15 or 10 movies and in those, sometimes there is zero sugar and only bitter taste! Yet I always go back for more!
That, my friends, is the Power of Yuri!

Senpai, I was wondering if you are only into asian shoujo-ai movies, or do you like western ones as well? I’m asking because I wanted to recommend you the episode 3 of the BBC mini-series “True Love”. It’s a five-episode drama but you don’t need to care about it except for episode 3, which focuses on Holly, a teacher, as she develops feelings for a female pupil in her class. It’s not especially cheesy, just give it a try if you have the time. Something tells me you will like it!

First I have to tell you that I am a huuuuuuuuge Doctor Who fan and so you must imagine the thought of dearest Rose acting in a lesbian role making me feel.
Yes, I have watched true Love ep3 like four times already. I was kinda disappoint that it wasn’t the complete series but I will take anything and that was a good episode.

Yes, I am into all kinds of yuri but there is lesbian subtext and there is yuri subtext! So you see the first problem with that sentence. the words lesbian and subtext just don’t click!
I tend to lean more on the obscure side of things rather than the just desserts kind of relationships. Sure light subtext is painful but it induces more feelings from me hence the ‘goggles’ as this site’s name ^^
Also Asians girls are more into me…Sorry, I mean I am more into Asian girls (>.<)
I love all the yuri though and watch all but I only mention Eastern most, and some times Western. Actually, I was going to post about some French titles too.
Any way, yeah, I have not watched MG since the last episode I blogged because one can only take enough Paru-quality before going insane!
But since you actually mentioned it, I will have to skip through the episodes when the series ends (only two to go).

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. When I first spotted “Rose” and “Effy” (I don’t know about you, but I really like Skins, so yeah) casted to play each other’s love interests in an upcoming drama, I was like “I don’t know how to react to this…”.
I mean, I appreciate british television, very much so, and I know they can handle LGBT relationships, also that both Billy and Kaya *can* act, yet, somehow, I felt they wouldn’t click in those sort of circumstances, if you get what I mean. But them there was this all this fuss when the actual episode aired, and I thought oh what the glob, I am going to watch it. And I was pleasntly surprised of the outcome. It’s just as you said though, they should have definitelty focused on them more throughout the series, because as great as the episode was, 20 minutes just weren’t enough.
The only thing that sort of bothered me was that they had to make them go physical so they could emphasize the depth of their feelings for one another, intimacy, or whatevs. Don’t get me wrong, I like a good intimate / NSFW scene, I really do, but I don’t know, I think they could have done something else to accelerate the development of their relationship. It was too soon, too sudden. Maybe that’s just me though.
As for MG, well I pretty much started to ignore certain aspects of the plot ever since episode 5, Yagi and Messhi snatched my attention. The “Keita, keita, keita” symphony was too much for me. Oh and don’t get your expectations too high, episode 10 is not focused on Yagi and Messhi, but I think you must have figured that is not an option as long as Paru is around, but there are some brief but really sweet moments concerning them. You don’t even need goggles –well, I didn’t. 🙂
