P is a 2005 Thai movie, that with some embarrassment, I just watched last week! Seriously, all these years and I am only seeing it now? For shame BG, for shame! Though it might be because od the bluray release that  got to see it so I am okay with that, if the wait meant for higher quality.

And of course, to those who are pre-Yes or No, would agree with me when I say that usually one thinks of horror when they hear the words ‘Thai’ ‘Movie’! I know I do and that is right in this case because P is a horror (kinda mind bending)  movie, which would make sense seeing as P/Pi/Pii/Pee or whatever is is means ‘Ghost’ in English.

Though why this movie is called ghost is beyond me because it was more of a devil thingy than a ghost thingy. Well, I guess the ‘ghost’ part referred to the happenings of the night when Dau splits in two and the devil half goes off to feed (On humans!) but I still don’t see the ghost part of it seeing as that split personality actually had a physical body!

Seduction 101

Any way, Dau has had a very rough childhood and the only person that she could depend on, her grand mother, gets pretty sick that Dau has no choice but to find work in order to pay for the medicine.

Dau’s family has a reputation of practicing dark magic where the public is concerned. But where Dau and her grandmother are concerned, they really do practice dark magic and it seems that Dau’s potential is off the scales. Her grandma always lectured her about the principles of practice more than the ways themselves but when Dau goes off to the capital to work off the money for the treatments, while there she forgets all her teachings and uses the sorcery for vengeance.

It is in the capital, at the night club she is going to work at, that she meets her roomie Pooky.

To describe these two’s relationship is…kinda impossibly hard. Add in their line of business (it’s a club…a night club) and the lines get blurred fast but when they are in the comfort of their own little home….Kukuku

Look at those caps above of Pooky totally and shamelessly seducing Dau with the cover of teaching her the ways of capturing men’s hearts at the club. You see Dau is like any other country girl turned city girl. Totally green and with her reputation that stroke fear in the hearts of everyone in the village, you best believe it that she was 2000% virgin and ready for the picking when she went to the city. She of course knew of these things but her love for her grandmother outweighed everything else.

Dau and Pooky were such buddies and Pooky was there for Dau from beginning to end so I really am not surprised if Dau developed some feelings for her even though she seemed like the straight type though that first experience of hers might have played a part in her choice of roses over tulips (Please get it). It must have been such a bad experience because what she did to that guy was almost traumatic (actually it happened before, in Snakes on a Plane – in the toilet scene).

If it weren’t for Pooky Dau I doubt would have been able to survive the city life. She had been roughed up pretty good already from the poor state in which she lived with her grandma but the city is all kinds of different. Not to mention she was young and naive all ready to be picked off the tree by the worst kind of city trash.

While Pooky is giving Dau a massage which I can’t tell benefits who more, Dau suddenly drops a bomb!

Dau: So, if you don’t like men, does that mean you prefer girl?
Pooky: Only the cute ones.
Dau: What about me?
Pooky: *Grows moody and stops the massage*
Dau: *turns around and stares at Pooky before she sits up*
Pooky: …
Dau: *Gets closer and personal*
Pooky: *Smiles nervously*

-The two kiss –

After the kiss, to get rid of the tense situation, Pooky playfully shoves Dau away as she says that only in her dreams would she love Dau but me knows and probably Dau does too that Pooky loves her. The two have a moment soon after as they wrestle around…in their undies, and along the way Day breaks some more rules of sorcery that her grandma told her about (This time to not walk under a clothes line, which she did while wrestling with Pooky)

The more rules she breaks the stronger the source of the magic (which can’t be good depending on the way Dau is using her magic) and the more bodies fall!

The Demon awakens

Things get so bad that every night Dau goes to sleep, the devil comes out to feed and when Dau is awake, she can no longer eat normal food, only raw meet and blood for drink!

But despite all this nightmarish turn of events, Pooky swears to look after Dau and not leave her. Dau on the other hand, even her devil side knows Pooky and feels something for her because she did not hurt her when the devil woke up while Pooky was over-seeing Dau’s sleep.

If that ain’t love,  don’t know what is…

But if there is one thing that should not be tricked or taken lightly, it’s the Devil and when Dau and Pooky decide to lock Dau up so that she could not feed anymore in order to kill the Devil within with hunger, the Devil gets desperate and there is no one trickier than the Devil so sadly Pooky falls for the Devil’s wiles and frees it when it was at its worst hunger ever which meant that it would eat anything…even its own damn arm if it came to it.

So it was quite sad that what I was expecting to happen happened when the Devil did the first thing anyone that hungry would do…chow down on Pooky. well, at least it seemed to enjoy that meal more than the rest, I guess she was the most delicious of them all and with that hunger that it must have been in, well, no debates on that.

So yeah, another BAD END but I am starting to appreciate the saying ‘Getting there is not important as much as how you get there’.

Pooky died but I have a feeling that this was the best way for her to go, dying for her love.

Well, if anything, at least she is a part of Dau now…

Um…yeah…

Anyway, the movie ended at a bad note and for some reason the grandma was forgotten completely but it was a really good run till the end. Pooky was such a sista and she went out in glory in my eyes.

Yeah, I am adding this to the collection as well.
