I am really enjoying this show way more than I was hoping to so I guess I should add it to my weekly? Probably.

Though I will limit the view on only Chiaki and Marika and nothing more.

For many people this would have been episode one. Those picky people I mean. Why? because Marika goes through the steps of finally taking over her father’s duties as the Captain of the Pirate Ship Bentenmaru.

She went through all kinds of basic training from crafting to combat and even went on a trial run of piracy! Thank the gods this wasn’t a shonen show or the events of this episode would have required a full season.

Any how, things seemed pretty generic, though not boring at all, not to me at least. The fun went up x9000 when The Propellant, Master Asia Tsun Chiaki made her appearance. For some reason, even though she has her own ship (Barbarossa) which I am sure is stocked with a lot of capable trainers, she choses to come train with Marika on the Bentenmaru.

Like, what’s up with this logic?

Here is another thing. Even though she didn’t show it plainly for all to see, I am sure Marika felt a little out of place when she was all alone in this new place with new faces all around her. She went through all her training like a soldier, with a purpose. I am sure she felt quite lonely.

So I, you, we can imagine how she felt when she saw Chiaki suddenly before her. What better way to display her happiness that jumping Chiaki, like a wife of a soldier upon her man’s return after WWIII!

Marika did just that. Even I could feel her relief, happiness…love, when she saw Chiaki. She latches onto Chiaki’s arm so hard, almost as if she was afraid Chiaki would just up and beam…

 

Ah crud!

Chiaki of course tries to fend off the bubbly pup by telling her that she didn’t come to see her or anything. She was just there for training. And this reason would have flew except SHE HAS HER OWN SHIP! Not to mention she left almost after a month, or was that a week, or…Arg

Chiaki though takes more Waifu points by saying that she doesn’t care for whatever the reasons were. She is happy that Chiaki came). Then she beams so beautifully up at Chiaki who has no choice but cave into her tsun side.

Like, I don’t even…Sigh

 

The two starts taking lessons together and the chemistry between the two is easy enough for even a primary scholar to grasp.

I was also quite impressed with Chiaki during the trial piracy. Even though there was no actually danger, she did give off the air of a Leader. I guess turning badass when things get sticky is a trait she shares with Chiaki since you wouldn’t think these two quite capable in their leisure time. With more scenes of these two like this up-close and personal communication…

I am very much looking forward to more space piracy!

And Momoiro Clover Z’s OP and ED spice things up quite a bit. You guys have to listen to the full version of the OP. It’s awesome!
