Are they waiting for a signal or something?
Does anybody else ever watch a show and by the end of it you are left in stupefied wonder at the turn of some events? In my case, these wonders have to do with the yuri of course. I have watched a many shows that have characters who would have made such a great couple, were sold in the beginning as if they would get together sometime later in the show and then BAM! Tragedy always strikes in the form of the writers/directors/producers/whoever is responsible, totally forgetting about the chemistry between these characters, give up on development since they have gained the audience and thus have overcome the cancelation curve, or they do that other thing – That thing that happens 90% of the time which is introducing some new good-looking dude character that one of the girls falls for.
All the damn time!
Nikita (The Maggie Q ver) is one of these shows.
~
Comforting each other like they used to
GRANTED, I can overlook Nikita herself since in the original series Michael was all over the place, it seems he is a part of the story so I guess he can’t be helped, but the new Nikita is not following the old. The first deviation comes in the form of the lovely, lovely Alex Udinov (Lyndsy Fonseca). The New Series of Nikita is all about Nikita and Alex taking on Division.
At least it was supposed to be!
Alex and Nikita were the show at the start of the series in the first season and I was happy, everybody was happy with Michael kissing Percy’s butt back in Division. Nikita sure didn’t seem that unhappy without him and she seemed all happy to kick his ass whenever he crossed her path on mission. So WTF is going on now in season 2?! Nikita is all suddenly depressy and shit all because of Michael. ‘Oh noes Michael was seeing some other woman when we weren’t dating. Oh noes he might have had a child with her. Oh noes he is spending more time with her now in guise of protecting her. Oh noes woe is me!’
I so want to use a Captain Picard ‘The Fuck is This Shit’ image here but I won’t even bother. I don’t think it is needed.
Gone were the days when she was all over Alex. Gone were the days when she enjoyed kicking Michael’s butt and instead she is now kissing said butt. Gone were the great thrills of Alex sleeping in the jaws of the enemy just for Nikita – who was worried sick about her every other moment. Gone were those happy moments when the two exchanged encrypted messages like love notes in high school class. Instead now the story, before we knew it, turned into Nikita and Michael and their love life!
As if that was not enough, they had the nerve to pull that other card of introducing some new dude just so Alex could hump with him. They pulled this shit three times – THREE FUCKIN’ TIMES! The first Dude was a fellow agent trainee in Division along with Alex. Alex had to kill him to keep her secret and to protect Nikita. The second Dude was a neighbour of Alex’s while she still lived at her apartment as a free agent. Even though the writers had the guts to even go as far as forcing Alex to have delusions of her and him have a child and living their happy ever after, that ship sank faster than Bruce Wayne and Rachel Dawes. The gay Goddess seemed to have a strong arm around Alex’s shoulders. But even with the second warning, those hard-headed writers still couldn’t stop so they brought in a third Dude. And boy, do I find myself wishing that they stuck to any of the first two! This third Dude is so damn annoying! First of all, he is those types that I hate most – the ‘I am a hero of justice but I am also very dumb.’ He is that type of character. He is a new employee of Division and his mother is one of the funders of Division and thus a target of Nikita’s. They tried to make his that complicated in that he apparently loves Alex but has to kill Nikita to protect his mother. He is a hard-core mama’s boy, this Dude is. So what does he do, he places a tracer in Alex’s watch – a watch that is the only reminder of her father! Like, can you believe this Dude?! But that is not all, he follows this trace and tried to snipe Nikita in her own home WITH Alex present!
Like, seriously?!!
Alex is the one who saves the day having been out that time and spotting the Dude. Granted she doesn’t know it is him as they wrestled in the dark but you can damn well be assured she was very pissed and out for blood of anyone who dared try and kill Nikita! But after all this, it seems to me that they are trying real hard to make the Dude out to not be that bad and thus looking for all opportunities to hook him up with Alex! Let me just say this to the writers…
That shit ain’t gonna fly!
After Nikita saves Alex, who just saved her from a sniper
To save face, guess what they try and do next? The bring back those Alex/Nikita moments we loved so much now with them making googly eyes at each other and share looks that speak the dirtiest of languages one can think of. If they think we will forgive them just because of those, well, they might have been onto something there…until they turned these lovely moments into the primary school girls’ talk of boy problems and such basic nonsense in relation to, sigh, Nikita and Michael!
Can I flip a table now please…?
Nikita/Michael thing was supposed to be in the past so why couldn’t they have left it there? They are already frikkin’ Ex’s so why the fuck are they back together again and why is Nikita back to acting like a jealousy love-sick teenager for fuck’s sake!? Would it have killed them had they gone a new route after having already fucked up the original with Alex?! Seriously, you can like, give this show to a 12 year old and they would wonder why Alex and Nikita aren’t kissing and making out yet! Relationship sense, this show makes absolutely none!
Despite all this, I never miss an episode of it. Granted I use the scroll button a lot, in some episodes but I still watch every episode. Damn those writers and messing with my feelings! Damn them! This feeling is becoming so familiar, what with the many series that have it, that it now feels to me like a pin prick which hurts a second and then no more.
May the Yuri goddess save us from these Evils, Amen.
Alex/Nikita Forever!

I totally agree with you on this! I had to stop watching the damn show because of all the annoying guys and the ridiculous romance. This show works best when it’s just Nikita and Alex as the focus. Ugh way to ruin a good show.
