“You’re so warm Miku.
Kohinata Miku, you’re the sunshine that warms me.
It’s so warm next to you that I never want to leave.
It’s always been like that and it always will be.”– Hibiki
Blinding, in fact.
Episode 2 takes off right from where the first left off with Hibiki all transformed into Symphogear. I was disappointed to see that she was just her normal self. I was very much looking forward to Berserk Hibiki. In fact the whole episode was too light hearted compared to the way that first episode was, completely different. On the other hand, it was comforting to see that the series won’t be all dark and grim which will make it require less courage to look forward to more episodes.
The episode itself focuses mostly on Hibiki being integrated into the system. Her questions get answered and she doesn’t even waste time agreeing to be the heroine of justice. It’s too bad, or good plot-wise, that Tsukasa isn’t too keen on anybody replacing her Kanade. This of course spells big trouble for Hibiki who not only is supposed to be Tsukasa’s new partner but she also inherited Kanade’s abilities. How is this possible? Well in the first episode, the fragment that pieced into Hibiki’s chest was a piece of Kanade’s armour which is ultimately a piece of some stone that enables the Zwei transformations.
Some monsters show up to move things along which are easily beaten by Tsukasa. Alright, Hibiki helped…a little bit. Things end soon afterwards with the cliff hanger of a fight to come between the two no thanks to a misunderstanding on Tsukasa’s part. I have a feeling Hibki is gonna wipe the floor with her which will send her into emo-mode, or an even more emo-mode, for a while then she will approve of Hibki and voila!
AND
Of course we can’t have an episode without sweet sweet Miku. My vision and hearing might have deceived me, after I dumped the goggles like nobody’s business, but I can swear that I saw Miku’s feelings towards Hibiki and vice versa quite clearly this episode.
In episode one, my Miku alarms were already ringing when she displayed that tsundere side of hers but I ignored them just in case. This episode though, her almost confession, in bed, and reaction to cuddling from Hibiki just forced my hand and I just had to open that door. Speaking of bed…
These two have a double decker, a la Kanade and Yukino (Candy Boy) yet they sleep in one of them. And the top one to boot. In fact, it looks like the bottom one is either left to collect dust or being used as a storage since it seems to be closed off. Then there is that one photo they have in their room of Hibki embracing Miku and both of them blushing like mad. From those facts I knew I didn’t need them goggles anymore.
More on Hibiki this episode. In the first, I thought she was just naive and generally being just nice as she would be with anyone else but I learned that she thinks a lot more of Miku than I had initially wanted to believe. First of all, though it hasn’t been touched upon in detail, it seems Hibiki can only rely on Miku. Does she have no parents? Relatives? What exactly did she mean when she said that only Miku worries about her? Either way, to Hibiki, Miku comes first and one could clearly see how having to hold the truth about what’s going on from Miku is killing her. I have a feeling it won’t be long before she spills.
I have to say, I love Miku. She gives off Tomoyo’s vibe but while Tomoyo was kind of a chicken when it came to her feelings, that doesn’t seem to be the case when it comes to Miku. That bed scene really stood out to me in this episode. Especially that moment when Hibiki began a sentence she couldn’t finish. Usually the other party in any other setting would let it go but not Miku. That moment made me respect her and like her even more. I am sad that she didn’t get to confess…something… thanks to Hibiki falling asleep but I guess it was the right move. if it were a love confession, it’s too early for that so I can nod in approval.
I honestly don’t know how things are going to go with Tsubasa but I sure pray she doesn’t end up docking with Hibiki since she has Kanade’s…essence within her now. But who know, that other character, we have yet to meet, that was in the OP, might be of a greater importance. I have a feeling she’s going to be more into Hibiki though than Kanade, that is if she isn’t the bad guy! But if she turns out to be voiced by Tamura Yukari…Oh lawd!
So yeah, this is might just be one of the yuri series of the year with Hibiki and Miku making it on the ‘ships to remember’ coaster. Too bad it might just be a series to re-watch with a bottle at hand.
Sigh
Either way, I am all over this show now like a pack of starved wolves.

This was an entertaining read. I’m not into yuri (or yaoi for that matter) but it doesn’t seem like it will overwhelm the show. However, I planned on dropping it because the singing was horrible.

Oh, hi there GoodbyeNavi, thanks for visiting and commenting.
But wait, what? Mizuki Nana is not good enough for you?!! Arienaiii
LOL
Sad to see you are dropping it (that is if you are) but as for me, since I don’t watch shows for music, not that I understand anything about it, and madly in love with yuri, there is no way I am dropping this. Even with Hibiki’s doom looming over the whole show, I will succumb!

The is actually my first time finding out about this anime so I looked it up because the animation seemed so familiar to me like I’ve seen the same style before in another anime…
Turns out the animation studio, Satelight, also did Escaflowne (a classic favorite of mine .<
I also lol'd at the NanoFate reference there. xD
Yukari Tamura better have a part in this!! *crossing my fingers*

O_O WTF happened to my long post? Lol
Too lazy to retype it so I’ll just give you a review of what I just said. -___-”
Animation was familiar. Looked it up. Turns out the studio, Satelight, also did Noein which I watched a long time ago on Adult Swim.
Also, Satelight is doing AKB’s new anime show, AKB0048.
But what made me put Symphogear into my to-watch list is the fact that Nana Mizuki has a part in the show. She’s totally my favorite Japanese singer and seiyuu ❤

Nice to meet you Soru and welcome. Also thanks for visiting and commenting.
Mizuki Nana is Tsukasa but I never get her voice until she sings. For example I still can’t believe she is Fate! She sounds very different when she talks than when she sings, or is it just me? O.o

Omg, I know right?
Her voice is so deep whenever she sings but then its so different when she voice acts! o_o
Mindblown~

Miku’s heart pounding excitement in that heartwarming bed scene instantly made her the #1 girl to cheer for on the show. Hibiki comes in 2nd and Tsubasa is 3rd.
I personally have no problem with this show being a musical combat anime. The songs are good as far as I’m concerned so I don’t mind at all.

I don’t know how anybody who doesn’t know Japanese worries about the battle songs! I mean like myself, I don’t understand anything so I leave it as BGM while I enjoy the action going on! Who has timer to read subtitles when Hibiki is going all krazy-like!!
Miku is really proving to be THE Waifu choice though, isn’t she! No partners like her exist that I have ever seen portrayed before!
Go Miku

Exactly. The songs don’t hurt anybody as the ass kicking is too epic to deny.
Ah yes, Miku plays the role of worried waifu perfectly. Any lesbian who has a wife like Miku should cherish her for life!

Hibiki knows. Hibiki fights to protect what is precious to her!
Go Hibiki as well!
