First up is the big news of AKB48 topping the first 5 Yearly Oricon Single Sales rankings. Not only that but they also Top the Total Sales List of the year as well at 16 Billion Yen beating the likes of EXILE, Arashi and so on.

Like, whaaaaa!

With how SKE48 promising to start off 2012, I shudder to think what next year is gonna bring!

AKB48 no Kouhaku Uta Gassen

Japan hols this yearly Kouhaku Uta Gassen event where Japan’s top female and male artists are divided into two groups; Red – Female and White Male and they battle it out. White team has won all previous rounds. Will AKB48’s popularity with Backup power of NMB48 and inclusion of KPOP groups like KARA turn the tables?

We shall have to wait and see but this is not what I am most excited about!

AKB48 is holding it’s own Kouhaku Utagassen and the teams have already been decided;

As you can deduce, many have their bets on Red Team Winning and my own subconscious is telling me that they are the sure winners but I digress!

I am rooting for the White Team!

No surprises there, right? These are idol singers not singer singers so this battle is already not about singing prowess but popularity! At least the fans think so.

So with that said, One can understand where I stand. I mean it’s too bad that Maachun and Saya-nee have to be in the Red Team but the White Team has;
