Okay, as mentioned before in my last post about their newest single Liar, I was totally hooked on to these eggs of the Idol world and so I just had to check them out.

Having watched all their PVs released so far, and much thanks to their unique DVDs, it indeed took no time for me to get to know all of them like the back of my hand.

In fact I already have favourites and even some ships…

First off, if one needs the history and any other information on the girls, go to WiKi or their Official Site.

The only warning I give you is that you will never know their age! For some reason their years of birth are a secret. Not that it helps. We can all conclude that they can’t be older than 14, actually let’s make that 13.

Not that this is an issue for Idol fans!

The Members

Using their single ‘Limited Addiction’ (which of course looks great as well) I will break down all the five members for you.

Just like any other group, there is a need for a Leader/Captain and obviously an ACE/Centre.

Of course we have to start with the leader…

1. Miyu

 
 
 

Name: Yamabe Miyu 山邊未夢
Nick: Miyu みゆ
D.O.B: 24th June
Blood-T: B

On the very first day, just from the, and right after, introductions, it was decided that Miyu was the leader. It was mainly because she is the eldest of the group (well, at least we know that much in the age department) but I think it also had to do with the way she introduced herself. Her intro was short, calm and to the point.

As mentioned before, she is perhaps the easiest to spot with her thick mole on the left cheek and also her unique facial physique.

Miyu is my favourite.

She is also one of the two that kiss in their PV for ‘Liar’. Which I guess now seems obvious. She is the one that runs in from our left (in case further emphasis is needed). She is kissing Mei, who I will be coming to in due time.

Due to their age she can’t obviously handle the role of leader and her obviously being the princess chara of the group, she doesn’t talk much for example in interviews. But when they are alone just the girls, she is quite funny and always seems to start the jokes.

Come time to play house,

 

She will be one of the guys!

Yep, I have chosen wisely….

But at this rate, I will go on and on about Miyu so let’s move onto the next girl.

2. Hitomin

 
 

Name: Arai Hitomi 新井ひとみ
Nick: Hitomin ひとみん or Hii-chan ひーちゃん
D.O.B: 10th April
Blood-T: O

I didn’t see when it was decided but Hitomin has been the centre of all their singles so far. It probably even is a coincidence since from the beginning, the girls have been in the same positions be it in a PV itself or just at attention back stage in interviews and stuff. Also the staff don’t suck up to her at all as they do in AKB outside of the projects. No extra attention whatsoever.

I like that a lot.

Of course that’s only the staff. The other girls are always going ‘Hitomi this, Hitomi that’ so one just knows….

Also Hitomin is very different from other centres. I can’t quite put my finger on it but she doesn’t act like it at all. One who never watched their PV wouldn’t believe it when they are told she is the centre. I guess it’s still because of that age of innocence that they are still at.

One great feature I first noticed about Hitomin though (And might be one of the reasons she is at the centre) is that she has very quick reflexes. And her vision too…I swear it has to be like 40/20. There was this moment where she saw what no one would not normally see (perhaps even the super dude himself).

But any ways, it was one of these moments of awareness that got me my first ship and made me like her more enough for her to be my second favourite.

To sum up her personality, I would say that she is a dragon egg soon to hatch.

3. Yuri

  

Name: Nakae Yuri 中江友梨
Nick: Yuri ゆり
D.O.B: 28th June
Blood-T: O

Yuri, Yuri, Yuri…

The first thing I noticed about her is that there seems to be an air or rivalry around her and Hitomin. No no, you won’t find it by looking as this is just on my part. You won’t find her fighting over something (like food) with Hitomin or anything like that.

I just feel this tension where the two are concerned.

Her personal traits are that she ‘on the ball’ so to speak. She has guts too. I remember at one of the girl’s earlier meetings when they were trying to learn each other’s names and as Miyu was introducing herself, Yuri went and dropped the bomb.

“Do you have a boyfriend?” – She asked!

As I (And everyone else in the room really) was wondering as to why she asked such a question, she goes and says that it’s because Miyu is a hottie so she thought she might have a guy!

That moment right there put her on my radar. YURI thinks Miyu is a hottie! I better watch out for her in the future.

Of course it wasn’t just her asking questions but she seemed to drive the conversation as well. I would think that Yuri is the Korisu of TGS.

Hmmm perhaps not the best conclusion but alas…

And oh…

She is also one of the guys.

4. Aa-chan

  

Name: Konishi Ayano 小西彩乃
Nick: Aachan あぁちゃん(Not to be confused with Acchan)
D.O.B: 15th December
Blood-T: O

Hmm…Not a lot to say about Aachan except that she seems to think she is the best MC out of all the girls. Well, it is true that her interviews bring a grin to my face.

She is usually situated on the far left (our left) right next to Miyu. She seems to be the most…healthy of the five girls.

Reminds me of Erepyon actually and this is the formula I used to get to know her better.

And…that is all.

I am only into them for like, four days so lots of time to get to know them a bit more.

I mean, it took me a year to get to to know Yukirin after I got into AKB and now she is my all time favourite Idol.

So please forgive the lack of info in this.

And finally…

5. Mei

  
 

Name: Shyoji Mei 庄司芽生
Nick: Mei めい
D.O.B: 2nd July
Blood-T: O

Mei is the one that kissed Miyu in Liar.

Other than her having a funny born, and thus reminding me of NMB’s Joker (Kanakichi), I really can’t tell you much about Mei yet. She is usually the one of the far right (Our right) right next to Yuri. They seem to have the same formation for all their PVs.

Indeed, I need to learn much more about these girls. But at least now I know them by name and face and can identify them easily.

And that does it with the introductions…

Actually I was planning to make NMB48 my first Idol intro but there you have it.

Now then, onto the next section…

The Ships

Promoting their 8th Single

It is the fate of Idol to be paired off like there is no tomorrow and there is nothing that can get in our (fans) way.

Nope, not even age.(And I get locked up, I shall blame Avex for hiding the girls’ age)

First of all I have to make one thing clear. I tend to not go for the SHOWN pairs and instead have to see back stage footage to see who is actually into whom and that it’s not the script talking.

Thanks to all Tokyo Girls’ Style DVD having a goldmine of extras, it helped to make up my mind. no matter how small that was since it was extremely hard. Everyone is close with each other and again, this is thanks to their innocence.

But, they are getting there. One couple in particular and also my favourite.

Miyumi (Miyu x Hitomi)

Now though I said what I said just before, Usually when I am new to a fandom, I tend to go with the flow and simply fall in love with the first intro couple. In this case, it would’ve made sense for me to fall for Miyu/Mei after watching Liar but strangely, it isn’t the case.

Also to make matter worse, there is probably a lot of other fans who ship other couples more than these two but I detest ‘flow’.

Watching all those extras really helped me know and like the girls and my mind on whom to ship was made up instantly on this one couple.

 
 

The above caps are from the extras where they went to the Edo (historical Tokyo) amusement park and they had to dress up.

Needless to say, Hitomi was quite attached to Miyu.

Also there were other scenes (which I didn’t cap) where Miyu and Hitomi would disappear from the others (walking ahead of) with Miyu holding tightly onto her waifu’s Hitomi’s hand.

Another one that also I didn’t cap was during a certain PV shooting, clumsy leader Miyu fell all over herself and it was not Ayano, who was right next to Miyu or the others but Hitomi who came to the rescue. Hitomi who was ahead of the other was the one to react while the others just looked on. She held onto Miyu’s arm and didn’t let go.

And that’s not all.

For, yet another scene (that I did not cap – damn me) was during an interview. Hitomi went and made a fool of herself and while she hid her face in embarrassment, Miyu covered her hands with one hand and with the other, patted Hitomi on the head softly.

Then, Then as Hitomi was talking and went to make a gesture with her hand, she couldn’t since Miyu’s was still covering hers. Miyu lets go but only for a sec for Hitomi to gesture then she lays her hand back near Hitomi’s with her pinky maintaining contact!

Seriously, how cute is that!

From that moment on, I started noticing all these gestures between them and I knew there was no going back!

There are all the usual of course like;

Feeding each other (Everyone does it though)

Then those Glances I love so much

And finally, this…

	Hitomi: Hey Miyu: Yes? Hitomi: Do you want to touch it? Miyu: Touch what?
	Hitomi: You know *Gestures down* Miyu: *Looks down* Oh… Hitomi: So, you wanna? Miyu: Okay…
	Miyu: Strokes…the chameleon Hitomi: Oh yeah~ Ayano: Fufufu Yuri: … Mei: Oh dear

By the way, they were in the middle of an interview in those caps but Miyu didn’t give a frack as she was more interested in Hitomi’s chameleon.

Actually, putting the jokes aside, this scene really got to me. Before the stroking, Hitomi kept glancing over to Miyu and at the same time her hand kinda kept going to her skirts (kinda like flirting). The first time Miyu missed the gesture. The next, she looked to Hitomi then at the skirts. She was just like I as I was wondering what Hitomi was on about.

But then when Hitomi gave up (the seduction) Miyu started stroking the charm.

And did I mention they were in the middle of an interview?!

Then of course there is the PVs themselves, ‘Love Like Candy Floss’, in particular.

I so was getting Miyu/Hitomi vibes in it and I am still not sure what they were trying to say but I spied some Miyumi in there. Even if I am only imagining it, I am so thinking of writing a fic about it. Yes, it was that interesting.

And so, there you have it, my favourite ship of Tokyo Girls’ Style.

Heh…

Apart from them two, I haven’t fallen for any others yet as they all seem to be neutral….for now.

But I do have one to keep an eye out for…

But as I said, both I and the girls themselves are still young to this so in due course, everything will be clear.

At this moment though,

I know for sure Miyumi is my favourite and I will follow them even if it turns into a crack ship!
