Yeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh
A bit late and I apologise but Fate/Zero has already began and currently is at the third episode. Now if one doesn’t know what either Fate/Zero, Fate/Stay Night or Type-Moon for that matter is, all I can think of saying is…
By the gods man/woman, where in the world have you been? Regardless of the area of interest, as long as one is into the anime/manga community they have to have heard of at least one of the three afore-mentioned terms. No, seriously. Never heard of those? Well how about Saber? Tohsaka Rin? If the answer is still no then may the Lord be with thee.
For those who know, you might remember the days when we shipped Saber with Rin in Fate/Stay Night, right? Please tell me it isn’t only I? Rin x Saber is like one of the must know ships of Anime FCOL.
Now as to why I am bringing this up…kukuku…I am so very pleased to say that Saber returns in the latest Type-Moon Anime adaptation Fate/Zero, which is about the third grail war – the one that came before the one in Fate/Stay Night and it took place 10 years prior (If I am not mistaken) to the happenings of Fate/Stay Night where Rin and Sakura are still kiddies.
Note: It was at this time that Sakura was adapted into the Matou family.
But getting back on track, Saber is back and this time with a vengeance. She is everything that we hoped her to be the first time around. A King, A knight and most of all…Absolutely shippable.
I can assure you that Saber in Fate/Zero will make you wish the other Saber didn’t exist (or Shirou for that matter – Really, fate/Stay Night would’ve made a lot of more sense if it was about Rin since she was there in Fate/Zero and she is a Tohsaka for God’s sakes).
This Saber is to die for and the relationships in fate/Zero are serious business not like the childish/fan servicy/eroge ones in Fate/Stay Night. But more on this later.
Enter the girls that I have my eyes on in Fate/Zero…
Episode 03 has me shipping these two already and completely rooting for them too.
Why?
Well….
Before I go on, let’s get some facts straight.
But fret not dear readers….fret not.
We start off with Iris and Saber’s arrival to Fuyuki City (The battleground the grail chose) and it seems that Emiya came earlier than them so the two came together instead.
Saber is sporting a suit! She is wearing a Black Suit! Kyaan
Either way to sliced it, the two looked like Master/Servant, which seems to have been the point Emiya had in mind to put across.
We learn that Saber (and other servants for that matter) immediately gain the necessary knowledge of the timeline they are summoned in which quite explains a lot. We also learn that Saber could pilot a plane or any other transportation with the exception of mythical beasts (a la unicorn.)
It’s the scene in the tax though that got me squealing like a nut!
Saber was such a Gentleman here. And the cutesy Iris was to die for as well.
As they made their way to meet up with Emiya, Iris who had grown up in a castle surrounded by acres and acres of snow couldn’t help admiring the sky high building that reflected the oh so beautiful sunlit sky. (We all know ufotable and their quality environment) She wishes she had more time to look around and Saber wastes no time in putting on her shining armour (so to speak) as she asks the driver to pull over.
The way Iris explained her fan-girling to Saber but beginning the conversation with “It’s my first time” I almost died….Even saber raised an eyebrow. Then she was all fiddling her fingers and blushing in embarrassment and by the gods woman!
Saber (still looking all cool and majestic in that black suit) walks over to Iris’ side and opens the door for her. She doesn’t stop there though. Taking off her gloves (Oh gods) she offers a hand to a bewildered iris who soon smiles and takes it.
Jesus Christ almighty!
Much later after the long date (well they did spend the day walking around Fuyuki and ending up on a sea shore with a beautiful atmo to back them up so) the night finds the two lovely ladies at a beautiful beach and they talk some more (they sure do have a lot to talk about).
Iris enjoys herself as Saber watches over her at a distance. She asks if Saber likes the ocean to which Sabers replies that she doesn’t know since to her, it was the place where her enemies arrived from. Iris shows her pity for Saber for she was a woman too and not being able to experience such simple pleasures was really sad.
Saber asks Iris too if she wouldn’t have preferred to be with Emiya instead of her but iris says that she wouldn’t do that to him. Apparently to him happiness is pain.
Pfft. he sure seemed not to mind making out with the other lady, whose name I don’t wanna know really, just minutes prior. For fucks sakes, with a hot girl kike iris and you cheat on her?!! Damn you!
Sabers hopes that Iris had a good time with just her.
Iris says that she had more fun with Saber during the day and compliments Saber on being such a gentleman.
Saber bows to Iris as she thanks her for the lovely words.
Saber’s pleased smile will stay with me for a while still.
But their date is interrupted by the appearance of another servant…
Iris (and all her family really) have a high magic rating so she seems to have senses him as well when Saber mentions it to her.
the hidden servant seems is sending an invitation as they never actually attack. Iris smiles at Saber and says that they should take the lurker up on their offer.
We all know how much Saber loves a good adrenaline rush especially one of battle. And so you can imagine how happy she was at that moment.
She was probably too eager to show off her skillz to iris. Oh Saber you player you
The servant turns out to be Lancer.
And since Lancer is such cool dude, and also the fact that he is an Irish legend, I will include him in the caps
Iris worries for Saber (despite the fact that she is a kick ass servant) so she asks Saber to be careful and says that while she may not be of any real help, she could heal Saber.
Which is really not needed since Saber has Avalon – which is basically an object of immortality and as long as she has it, she’s immortal and never aging.
But Saber being the cool King that she is, instead of shooting the offer down, she instead says to Iris that she will leave Iris to watch her back.
God. How cool is that?
These two are just so well attuned I want them to elope and…do…other..stuff!
Ahem, anyways, the episode ends with Saber transforming in her Knight armour and gets ready to get it on with Lancer.
………………………..
So, are you warm yet? I know I am and I can’t wait for more of these two.
Hopefully Emiya will spend the rest of the series committing adultery with that lady or Kotomine Kirei and leave Saber to care for Iris.
Really, they don’t need him and iris already acts like Saber’s master and Saber lets her as well which is baffling when you think about the workings of Master/Servant.
But I am not complaining.
There are a lot other reasons to watch Fate/Zero that Saber x Iris so get to it if you haven’t already! That shit is to die for.
Though Madoka is still my all time fav series.
…………………………
While we are at it, let’s have some HQ pics of these two (and Sakura and Rin)
………………………
And finally,
Thank you for dropping by…

Thank you for visiting and commenting fyee. ^.^
Fate/Stay Night was indeed a joke compared to Fate/Zero. If it wasn’t for them throwing in the Sakura card I and dropping the eros, I wouldn’t have sat through that!
It’s too bad though that Fate/Zero has so much blocks in it. But as with Nolan productions, that won’t stop me from a hit like this.
