Okay, I will bite.

I don’t know if it’s the hair. It most likely is because of the hair!

Any ways, after a long time of convincing, partly thanks to one blogger Zyl, I have finally caved and gotten to watching Maria Holic thus adding one Miyamae Kanako to my character list.

After watching the whole episodes (The first season in glorious Blu-ray) I can understand perfectly as to why Kanako is many people’s favorite a lesbian.

• Her idea of lesbian heaven being a female prison
• Busting a blood vessel at a simple touch
• Having no-boundary-illusions about her classmates
• Witty comments and thoughts that put KyonHaruhi’s bitch to shame
• Very, very sexy a body that makes one wonder why the other girls have yet to jump her bones.

But despite all her great points (I only named a few. you have to watch this series to see her in all her glory) she has a long way to go before she get to be my favorite. Well, not really a long way since she only lacks one thing only.

A girlfriend.

She doesn’t even have a crush at all yet!

A lesbian of her calliber (She has no equal really) who is in a boarding school, a girls only boarding school, a Christian girls only boarding school and yet she doesn’t have her sights set on anyone?

MADNESS!

I mean okay, I know it must be a hard choice to choose seeing as what a garden she’s in and by the gods do the other girls look hot or what? But still, choices have to be made. If not one, or two, or even a few, then at least make a harem for crying out loud!

I mean when the other Maria, Mariya’s twin sister Shidou Shizu showed up, I was expecting promotions and fireworks yet, nothing happened (you know what I mean).

But I guess this is a good thing. It keeps things neutral and gives us a choice to pair Kanako up with anyone we want but one cannot stop wishing for some canon coupling, you know?

Though now that I think about it, I can’t come up with the best partner for Kanako. I mean all the other girls are really interesting though I guess if it’s by process of elimination, Matsurika wouldn’t do since she looks like her soul was sold to Mariya. Yuzuru too seems to be into Sachi more than she is into Kanako. God too would probably not do but I bet if Kanako promised to build her an LED wall-fit room, she would definitely marry her.

Feh! The ending of season one promised me some Shizu screen taimu yet I have yet to see her in the second season. Damn it all SHAFT, make it happen!

Some of you might be wondering as to why I wasn’t into Maria Holic before.

Well, the reason is simple really.

Mariya!

If one doesn’t know, Mariya is a dude dressing up as a girl to attend the girls’ school. He is also roomed with Kanako so that he can make sure she doesn’t spill his secret. His twin sister on the other hand dresses up as a guy to attend the boys’ school next door.

Now Mariya is voiced by a woman and is actually more convincing than that OtoBoku wannnabe but it is still a guy dammit.

But the reason I can stand him is mainly because of Kanako! This girl is just out there. She makes me forget everything else whenever she’s on screen, which isn’t that easy as the other characters are very attention demanding too.

Another reason is that unlike the other scenarios, Mariya is not the centre of the stage. There is no annoying harems. There is no stupid romance shenanigans where he is the gravitas! There are only two dudes and they are both acceptable. One is of course Mariya and the other is Fr. Kanae who is also actually fun to have around. There is also the fact that he is taken with Mariya (Heh!) which makes him fine in my book.

This show is all Kanako and it is why I love it!

Such a breathe of air from the other anime.
