OMG!

I am loving Code Blue right now. I am loving it! Hiyama (Toda Erika AKA Todi) and Shiraishi’s (Aragaki Yui AKA Gakki) relationship is growing and growing at an impressive speed! Just when I think ‘Okay, they’ve done enough, they’re going to introduce the inevitable romance madness with other guys’, the show goes and gives me more Gakki/Todi goodness!

I am loving this show!

Todi’s character has really grown from back when in season 1. Ever since the Special, which I repeat that it was all about her,  she has been at the front lines. Almost half way through and she is still is but I am getting ahead of myself!

Episode 2 picks up where the last left off. Shiraishi is still trying to get Hiyama to go have her heart set straight but Hiyama is having none of it. She is trying her best to avoid Shiraishi which is really a failed attempt seeing as they are working in the same department and even are still fellowship together.

So what can one do in such a position? Run away as fast as possible upon sighting of her pestering co-worker. Which Hiyama actually does as seen in the above sequence. While going up the stairs she sights Shiraishi who was probably looking for her and does a U-turn. Shiraishi gives chase determined not to be ignored/avoided!

Hiyama is cornered, caught between a wall and a hard place LOL. Hiyama starts talking nonsense which is typical of someone afraid and Shiraishi tries to assure her. Like telling her that the operation will be kept under wraps with the help of that girl from the Special that works in the Heart Surgery department. Oh! She is still there? Why didn’t Hiyama visit her I wonder!

But you know what they say about cornered animals! Hiyama being one at the moment thinks within the box that Shiraishi is just trying to get her out of the picture for the running fellowship! Like Shiraishi wasn’t ahead of her already from all those months she was bed-ridden after her accident in the Special! She says this Shiraishi as well.

Who isn’t amused and sighs like she’s talking to a child! She scolds Hiyama like the child she is being!

Of course no one likes being talked down on!

Sparks start to fly! There I was, excited all over in my seat for a real first fight but alas! It is not to be…

Interrupted By The Goddamned Cookie!

Wait, they were fighting in a ward?! Girls you need to pick your scenes way better! There is that place and you know it but for some reason…I will get back to that.

Hiyama tries for the Surgery department but her heart (chuckles) ain’t ready for it yet!

As for the two’s patients of the day, Hiyama has a lady who is in her fifities but doesn’t have a single wrinkle on her! Obviously a plastic surgery maniac. She went to Thailand for her last one and if that doesn’t spell trouble, me knows not does! Her condition is that she caught the flesh-eating bacteria!

Seeing as she ingested it, and the particular bacteria being none detectable unless specifically looking for it, by the time it was discovered, her right arm was a waste. They made haste to cut it off and stop the spread but seeing as it was ingested, it had already invaded her whole body! No miracles for this one! If you have seen her arm…Jesus, I don’t wanna go that way! fresh eating bacteria…Scary!

On Shiraishi’s side, she had a male patient with a brain tumor! The operation would be successful but he would lose his memories! Just as with every major operation, the patients have the right to make their decision whether to take it or not! It mostly depends on the Doctor’s explanation of the situation. Shiraishi volunteers to explain.

Now let’s take some time to talk about the recent Shiraishi-sensei. Shiraishi has her own problems as well and to no one’s surprise, they center around that accident that cost their previous instructor Kuroda-sensei his Hand of Gold! Having asked Shiraishi to ride the Heli more than anyone, Shirashi is spending more time in the hospital than anyone else! She is gone way serious for Jorker’s liking! And so she tries to be all Doctor like, hard, making decisions based not on emotion but clinical! Of course not all like this new Shiraishi but once again, I am getting ahead of myself here!

Her explanation is well received by the patient couple but Super nurse is not pleased. She tries to talk the patient’s wife out of going ahead with the operation, saying that the husband would lose all their memories together! Well duh! Nurse Betty, not to sound mean but they already knew that. Besides, their love was at first sight! Falling in love again even after decades is not so bad! Which is actually what happens! The husband though his memories lost, once again proposed to his wife as if he was in love for the first time! I actually cried a little here!

But no one is celebrating!

Hiyama steels her nerves and goes to the Heart surgery Department once again to put in her form of consent.

Not enough steel!

She runs away once again! But wait…

Shiraishi ain’t having none of it!

And so while Hiyama tries to slip past her, she is grabbed by the hand! They resume where they left off after the cookie incident! this means finishing off that fight that was started!

Shiraishi calls Hiyama on her cowardice. Queue pause! This ain’t a one-sided relationship fight!

Hiyama fires back with a not so well put call on Shiraishi’s new image and something a little more unpleasant!

This relationship is progressing a little different from any I’ve seen so far and that somehow gives me the chills of happiness and hope!

Looks like Todi wins this one!

Or not!

They part once again in bad terms with each other! Oh for crying out loud!

Enter new character! New Nurse!

I am thankful for her! I was getting tired of emo Nurse Betty! I guess this new nurse is Hiyama and Shiraishi’s generation nurse whereas Nurse betty is Kuroda’s and Mitsui’s.

Generally, this episode was better than the last in terms of Hiyama/Shiraishi goodness! I won’t be talking about any other characters unless they are involed in this nicely progressing relationship.
