Butterfly (The Mark Of)
Slight NSFW…
No, it’s not what you’re thinking. This is a different Butterfly. In fact this one came first. It was realeased in 2004 and now we are presented with a BluRay six years later.
BluRay BANZAI!!! First Miao Miao then A Tale Of Two Sisters and now we have Butterfly! Thank you Sappho-sama! Speaking of which, Sappho also realsed a BluRay. MADNESS!!
What a way to end the year! Only way it would’ve been better is is they had released Spider Lilies on BD as well. Oh well, No need to get greedy, it’s time is coming. I can feel it.
Anyway to get back on track, I had already watched this and added to my collection but I have upgraded to Quality!
This Butterfly is very different from the one I previously talked about. Well, there are some similarities like the threesome thingie! Here, the one in the centre is a married woman with a child! obviously caught between her husband and the new flame a young homeless woman (probably still in college). Incidentally the wife(Flavia) is a High School teacher at a girls’ school. And oh, there are those damn flashbacks as well. Only this time they go way back to Flavia’s high school days when she was in love with her best friend Jin and it seemed mutual. So she loved girls back when? I guess LIFE happened. Coincidence That she teaches at a girls’ school? Me think not!
Jin and Yip’s first meeting takes place in a tesco-kinda store. Yip was sitting there on the floor in front of the biscuit shelves eating away when she was caught by one of the floor staff. God’s hand was on her right shoulder as Flavia happened to be just opposite of Yip. Yip cast a *deadly* glance towards Flavia that no one could resist and so Flavia came to her rescue by posing as her sister.

Yip is so cute, isn’t she? And she has two dogs as well *yip* Kawaiii~
The way I see it is that the story is told in two different perspectives, the high school years and the now. I think that Jin makes the decision that is needed now based on her past where we are shown even her child hood hears when her mother tried to drown with her.
In High, Flavia and Jin were real happy. I can’t believe that they didn’t end up together forever. I guess it was destiny that separated them for Fate had Yip in store for Flavia all along.
But damn, Flavia was a killer in her younger years. And Yip so totally cool. How could she end up as a Nun?!! She would’ve been one super rock star had she stayed the course.
LIFE!

Flavia and Jin’s first time is shown to us and it was beautiful. It was the first for Flavia but not Jin. Apparently hers was at 13!!!
Flavia’s and Yip’s was in the shower. I loved their first kiss. Flavia stuck right before dinner and afterwards they commenced to eat with so much energy in the air even I could see it.

Flavia and Yip’s first kiss!

“Let’s eat or I won’t be able to control myself.” – Yip.
Two long hours of loveliness. I loved this movie with all its silent moments. I like to pay attention to stuff like eye contact, hands, and a silent movie like this is the way to go.
I am gonna keep an eye out to all the Butterfly movies out there.
Definitely recommend this one.
All the spoilers above are for the first 40 mins or so. I won’t spoil much but I say Do WATCH!!!
It’s really an emotional movie and I was feeling for Flavia when she was caught between choices. Such a lovely movie but that thing they did with the colors was annoying as hell. You will know when you see it.

Also, Flavia and Yip remind me of Fate/Nanoha and Vivio here.

Speaking of Nanoha, the movie hits Cinemas in Japan next months.
AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
